Chamber Ambassadors
Our primary vision as the Co-Chairpersons for the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce's Ambassadors Program is to lead the Ambassadors as goodwill representatives of the Chamber at a variety of Chamber functions. This energetic group helps maintain contact with other Chamber members while promoting the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce and its purpose.

In some instances, Ambassadors are the first contact that new members have upon joining The Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce.  Ambassadors integrate members into the Chamber's programs and services by meeting and greeting members at Business After Hours, Ribbon Cuttings and other events. They help with membership retention through personal contact and keeping new members as informed and involved as possible. They promote attendance and participation at Chamber Events. Only with this kind of commitment can the group achieve its goals and maintain its standard of excellence and service to the Chamber.

We hold monthly Ambassador Luncheons on the first Wednesday of each month.  If you or someone in your organization is interested in participating in the program please contact me at 706-975-2118.

Respectfully,
Martie Ewest & Wayne Parham
Board of Directors &
Co-Chairpersons of the Chamber Ambassadors

Leadership McDuffie

The 2016 session of Leadership McDuffie is in progress and has been going strong since January. This year's class consists of 19 motivated members from our community, who are passionate about learning the challenges and opportunities in Thomson and McDuffie County. This class started their journey in January as the Leadership McDuffie Board of Directors hosted a weekend retreat in Helen, GA. During the retreat Dr. John Coleman, a team building expert, and Mr. Matt Forshee, East Georgia Community & Economic Development Manager of Georgia Power, led sessions that educated and strengthened the team's core. Since that time the class has participated in State Government and Local Education sessions.
In February the class toured the State Capital where they had a question/ answer session with Representative Barry Fleming, and were able to get a photo opp with Governor Nathan Deal. They also visited the Georgia Power resource center for economic development where Mr. Matt Forshee and his crew educated the class on community statistics and procedures dealing with local area development. During the March session the class visited Thomson- McDuffie Middle School, Briarwood Academy and the aviation department of Augusta Tech. Leaders from our community educated the class on facility and program highlights along with current statistics dealing with their areas of expertise.

The class will continue to hold monthly sessions until the June graduation date. During the graduation ceremony, the current class will give a professional presentation for the Leadership McDuffie Board of Directors and special guests on the official 2016 Class Project. The class project is currently underway in our community. Keep an eye out for the new Norris and downtown areas to catch a glimpse of what is developing.
