Creating Healthy Living Environments
with New Paint Technology

Beginning at 9:00am

  • Discuss sustainability and its impact on socially responsible "green" design
  • Explain what a volatile organic compound is, how it is created, and what the growing concerns are
  • Explain LEED and illustrate where and how paint fits in and contributes to LEED certification
  • Describe various industry testing methods and standards for certifying "green" products
  • Specify paints not only for a LEED project, but also in the creation of a healthier environment
  • Identify and discuss future trends of paint

Color and Paint in Environments for the Aging

Beginning at 10:30am 

  • Discuss the growth of the aging population and the common health problems they face affecting the eyes
  • Recognize the ways these health problems alter or interfere with color perception
  • Differentiate the common care environments for the elderly
  • Describe the ways color can help facilitate quality of life aspects of social involvement, navigation, and orientation in environments for the aging, and
  • Summarize how premium, low- or no-VOC paint can offer durability and safe application in environments for the aging
