Final program activities
Eco-Summit
The Eco-Summit gives Green Teams the opportunity to share 'green' projects and activities completed throughout the year with the entire school, family members, neighbors and leaders in the sustainability field. Refer to page 63 or 65 of The Academy Guidebook for details. Let your program coordinator know if you need help and if the school plans on hosting one so we can attend!

Get points!
The Eco-Summit is an optional activity that gives Green Teams a chance to win 5 bonus points.  Download the submission form  and submit by May 13th .

Building Students Leaders Through Fundraising
Is the Green Team participating in this initiative? If so, let us know! We are keeping track of the schools that are so we can present prizes at the Awards Ceremony. Read more details on page 13 of The Academy Guidebook.

Here is an idea: collect $1 per student during Earth month (April) to support Dream in Green.  Please submit total funds raised to [email protected] by April 29th.

Success Stories
We want the Green Team to share with us a quick summary of the 'green' activities and challenges they completed over the school year. Download this Power Point template and send back to your program manager by April 29th to receive 5 points.

The Academy Awards Ceremony

Save the date. The Dream in Green Academy Awards Ceremony will take place Thursday, June 2nd at 5pm in downtown Miami at  Stearns Weaver offices.

Nominate the students, facilities staff and principals or APs that helped the Green Team make the program a success. Download the nomination forms  and submit by April 29th.

Submissions Deadline
We need time to double check we have all projects on file and finalize scores before the Awards Ceremony. Here is a recap of the activities the Green Team needs to submit :
  • Eco-Summit: ideally, we need submission forms by April 29th. Yet, we understand some schools will host the event in May. Please submit no later than May 13th.
  • Success Stories: submit by April 29th.
  • Student, facilities staff and principals or APs nominationssubmit by April 29th.

The Academy's Star Schools
March challenge - Green Careers


Students from Hialeah Gardens Middle School created job advertisements featuring 'green' careers. Some of the professions include bio-engineering, geo-scientist and environmental robotics engineer.
Colonial Drive Elementary students thought of ways that different careers could be 'green-ified'. They listed daily duties and proposed how to make each 'greener'.


Through various events such as the Green Education Fair, Eco Fair, NASA/Journey to Mars, students at Air Base K-8 Center had first-hand experiences with professionals currently working in fields where careers with an ecological emphasis are becoming a part of the professional culture.
Grants for Special Projects


The Sol Hirsch Education Fund will award grants of up to $750 to help teachers purchase scientific materials for the classroom, school, or community; launch new school or community science outreach and education programs; enhance or expand existing meteorology/science education programs; and/or attend accredited courses, workshops, or conferences related to meteorology that will significantly enhance their teaching activities. EPA, in partnership with the White House Council on Environmental Quality, administers the  Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators  to honor, support and encourage K-12 educators who incorporate environmental education in their classrooms and teaching methods.
