| January 2015 Medical Cannabis Dispensary to Open on Lombard Street 
The Apothecarium, a Medical Cannabis Dispensary (MCD), has filed a permit to open a store at 2414 Lombard between Scott and Divisadero, directly across from the Edward II at-risk youth facility. The Cow Hollow Association (CHA) Board has voted to oppose the issuance of a permit for this site. Community Housing Partnership, the property manager, and Larkin Street Youth Services, the non-profit providing services to the youth, also oppose the opening of an MCD at that location. A guiding principle of the CHA Board is the preservation of Cow Hollow "quality of life." The Board feels that an MCD on its border, in close proximity to an at-risk-youth facility would put the youth at further risk and detract from the quality of life of the Cow Hollow neighborhood. Construction Parking - New Legislation 
Cow Hollow Association members have been working with Mark Farrell's office to reduce the parking disruption to residents caused by the high volume of building construction in Cow Hollow. Volunteers have met with Supervisor Farrell over the last nine (9) months, giving him our concerns and suggestions for ameliorating the congestion and parking issues caused by construction. In turn, Mark has drafted some of our suggestions into proposed legislation to better control parking permit issuance for contractors during excavation and construction work on residences. As of now, permits are issued without much oversight and some contractors tend to abuse the permits and use them for worker parking instead of delivery trucks and contractor vehicles. Also, much of the designated times the permits are in force, the parking spaces are not being used for the project, and yet cannot be use by residents. We have suggested to tighten the timeframes and days that permits are allowable and find a way that contractors can indicate that they are done for the day and open up their parking spaces to the public. Currently, the proposed legislation is being reviewed by the Land Use Commission and we have been told that the hearing date is expected for sometime in July. We will let our members know when a date has been set to give you the opportunity to present your concerns and suggestions. Doyle Drive Closure - July 9-13 As a reminder, Doyle Drive/Highway 101 will be CLOSED beginning this Thursday (July 9) at 10:00 p.m.until Monday (July 13) morning at 5:00 a.m. Visit the closure webpage for detour routes, work areas and travel alternatives, including details about modified transit and ferry service. In preparation for the opening of the new Doyle Drive, a short-term, nighttime closure of Highway 101 is scheduled for the early morning hours of July 8 to allow crews to install overhead signage. View the advisory for details. Once the roadway is opened, motorists will be driving on the new Doyle Drive! The roadway that links the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco will be completely replaced by a new state-of the-art roadway. Summer Fun in San Francisco When you wake up this month and realize that your children are out of school for the summer, here are some places to go and things to see in our fine city that will replace the arguments and relieve the boredom. Panama Pacific Exposition - Revisited  The old Exploratorium is displaying a collection of Exposition photos, artifacts and interesting history of the 1915 fair that captured the world's attention at the time WWI was raging in Europe. It was the celebration of San Francisco's recovery from the 1906 earthquake and fire and the signal that the city didn't disappear from the planet. Henry Ford actually built an assembly plant on the grounds that produced Ford motorcars. The exhibit is free and well worth a visit this summer. Summer Fairs in the City  You have missed the Union Street Fair held on the first weekend in June, but there are several others that are fun. Stern Grove Festival has presented a free program of music since 1938. See their website for activities from June 14 - August 16th. North Beach Festival is June 13, 14th. Fillmore Street Jazz Festival is July 5th and 6th. These are both fun weekend fairs with good food and exhibits. If your life can use more jazz, Fillmore Street is the place to find it. Special Tours and Camping in San Francisco  The San Francisco Water Department gives tours of their Oceanside and Bayview treatment plants to residents one Saturday a month from May to October. Go to the website at www.sfwater.org to sign up. Did you know you can camp legally in the city without fear of getting told by the police to "move on."
