April 1, 2016 Research in Germany to host Science Breakfast during Experimental Biology 2016 in San Diego
This year´s Experimental Biology meeting will take place from April 2 through 6 at the San Diego Convention Center. Representatives of the DFG, DAAD and GCRI will be promoting research and career opportunities in Germany at an information booth in the exhibit hall (booth #1006). Furthermore, the Research in Germany initiative will host a Science Breakfast with brief presentations and ample opportunity for the participants to network (Marriott Marquis Marina Hotel, Room Temecula 1/2, Monday, April 4, 8 -10 am). Experimental Biology is a multidisciplinary scientific meeting featuring plenary and award lectures, pre-meeting workshops, oral and poster sessions, on-site career services and exhibits. It comprises over 14,000 scientists and exhibitors representing six sponsoring societies and multiple guest societies. DAAD and the DAAD Alumni Association of the US cordially invite you to our annual Sound Understanding concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 7. This years concert will mark the fifteenth anniversary of the DAAD Sound Understanding concert series. The concert will once again showcase the young, talented DAAD music fellows from Germany who have spent the past year studying at music schools in the US and Canada. The music fellows were selected in a national competition from the best students of Germany's renowned music colleges. The concert helps raise awareness of the work of DAAD and the DAAD Alumni Association of the US in promoting transatlantic exchange. Then the DAAD Young Ambassadors Program is right for you! DAAD Young Ambassadors are undergraduate students from North America who have recently studied or interned in Germany and are interested in promoting study in Germany at their home institutions. Each year DAAD recruits students from all over the US and Canada to share with their peers what makes Germany a unique and attractive destination for study abroad. DAAD Young Ambassadors are responsible for organizing at least one event per semester on their campuses. Additionally, they collaborate with their universities' study abroad offices and other German institutions in their areas to inform their fellow students about educational and research opportunities on offer in Germany. DAAD Young Ambassadors are also available for email inquires about their respective German host universities, study abroad programs or student life in Germany. Chris Overbay from Festo USA has come to Germany to get his MBA in International Industrial Management and get to know Festos headquarters in Esslingen. The Esslingen MBA gives international corporations in southwestern Germany the opportunity to educate top employees from their foreign branches here in Esslingen. Besides a strong, international master's degree, taught entirely in English, Esslingen Graduate School students who are sent here by their companies complete a practical semester in their German company's headquarters. During this time, they also receive strong advisory support from the Graduate School. After their studies in Germany, the young executives usually return to their home land, where they take on challenging positions in the foreign subsidiaries of their companies - just like Chris Overbay. But even after their experience in Esslingen is over, they are able to keep in touch with their colleagues though their international alumni network.
