Kindergarten and Preschool Registration This Wednesday!
Wednesday, April 6
Three Locations:
Carey School, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Community Campus, 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Hemingway Elementary, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Registration for All-Day Kindergarten, Dual Immersion Kindergarten and Preschool will take place on Wednesday, April 6 at three locations in Blaine County.
For students attending Alturas, Bellevue, and Hailey Elementary, parents can register their children at the Community Campus (1050 Fox Acres Road) from 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. New this year, South Central Health District will offer immunizations at the Community Campus from 11:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Cost is $20 for one shot, $40 for two shots, and $60 for three shots. Bellevue Art Students Learn to Stretch and Explore
Bellevue Elementary art teacher Kate O'Brien helps students learn to think like artists. Inspired by the Harvard Graduate School research group, Project Zero, O'Brien encourages students to develop "Studio Habits of Mind" that help them stretch their imagination and explore in an artist's studio.

Carey School Basketball Team Receives Regional Sportsmanship Award
The Idaho District IV Basketball Officials Association created a new award for sportsmanship and named it after longtime Carey coach and athletic director Lee W. Cook. The first Lee W. Cook Sportsmanship Award was presented to the Carey Basketball team during the team banquet. Coach Dick Simpson was recognized for his 300th team win by Carey Athletic Director Lee J. Cook.

City of Hailey Tree Committee Plants Tree and Teaches Alturas Students About Trees
The City of Hailey
Tree Committee planted a tree at Alturas Elementary in honor of 2016 Arbor Day. Students learned about the parts of a tree and how to plant and care for a tree. Committee members Jeff Beacham and Linde Ries spoke to the students about the aborist profession and the purpose of trees. Alturas students were thrilled to see a new tree planted at their school.
