Education & Industry Brunch
Education and Industry leaders learned 'The KTECH Difference' at a brunch hosted March 11th at the Kids to Love Center.
Superintendents and career tech directors from 7 school districts across north Alabama participated, along with industry partners.
Mary Scott Hunter, Representative of Alabama Board of Education District 8 and
Ronnie Boles, Co-Chairman of AL Manufacturing Advocacy Council helped educators understand the high demand for KTECH students in the advanced manufacturing workplace. Educators now have the heightened awareness of the opportunities available through KTECH and how students can be successful with training in Mechatronics.
Dorothy Havens, Director of Workforce Development, Julie Finley, Education Liaison, Lee Marshall, CEO & Founder shared the vision & mission of KTECH, the educational requirements and process for students. The KTECH difference includes accelerated training in Mechatronics, small class sizes with a great atmosphere for learning, and soft skills training with "Momentum for Life" curriculum, among other advantages

KTECH Industry Tour
Our KTECH students recently took an industry tour to the SCI plant. What a great experience for our students to see how their studies can be applied in the real world.

This month, Lead KTECH Instructor, Ed Bruner, was honored to receive recognition for completing the requirements to earn his Level 1 Instructor Certification from SIEMENS. Bruner earned his certification through course-specific didactic training in electrical & mechanical components, electrical drives, electropneumatic & hydraulic control circuits. Congratulations, Ed and continued thanks for all your hard work and dedication!

Jersey Mike's Day of Giving:

March is the "Month of Giving" at Jersey Mike's sub shops. The campaign has collected donations for Kids to Love all month long, and the best is yet to come! On March 30th, 100% of sales at the Huntsville and Madison locations will be donated to Kids to Love. Every. Single. Dollar. So how about having lunch catered to the office that day? The bigger the order, the better the donation! It's a simple way to satisfy your hunger and serve foster children at the same time!

The fifth annual Starbecue Charity Classic Tournament will be held at the Meridianville Star Market Location this year on Saturday, April 30. The tourney will include ribs, chicken, and new this year, a wing cooking contest. Entry fees are $100 per team and registration must be completed before April 28, 2016.
Star Market gift certificates will be awarded for 1st ($150), 2nd ($100) and 3rd ($50) place finishers in each separate category of chicken, ribs and wings. The People’s choice Winner will be awarded a $150 gift certificate.

On September 10 at 9:00 a.m. University Fitness Center will offer a boot camp with a portion of registration fees benefiting Kids to Love.
Boot Camp is a 60 minute class that alternates aerobic intervals such as plyometrics, jump rope, and athletic drills with strength intervals to give you a workout that is intense yet easy to follow.
This class is designed to build power, strength, balance, mobility, and injury prevention, all at the intensity you choose. So, get fit while helping our foster youth! Click here or scan QR code to register.

Kids Helping Kids
Meet a 6-year-old with a BIG heart. Savannah and her Dad surprised us with a visit to the Kids to Love Center last week. Instead of birthday presents, Savannah collected toys to donate to local foster children. What a sweetheart! We encourage you to think of ways to engage your young ones in volunteerism and giving.

Meet Reba Cook. She joined us as a consistent volunteer last October and has already made invaluable contributions toward the work we do. Reba has been a warehouse
superstar
: inputting clothing and toy donations into inventory, filling Christmas wish lists, and tackling just about anything else needed to make the Kids to Love warehouse run like a well-oiled machine.
"Kids are special," Cook says, "So I tend to want to give my time to help kids. What's happening here at the Kids to Love Center is equally special and I feel so blessed to be a part of this incredible mission."

Two Men And A Truck's tag line, 'Movers Who Care,' may be selling them a little short -- more like movers who go above and beyond. For years, Kids to Love operated out of living rooms, garages and temporarily leased spaces scattered all over Madison County. Needless to say, logistics and locomotion were a constant battle. For years now, Two Men And A Truck have been just a phone call away whenever Kids to Love needed help with heavy lifting (or, moving the entire heart of a nonprofit to its new and permanent home.) Just last week, Owner Joe Hollingsworth's men helped retrieve and deliver 35 pallets of donations to the Kids to Love Center -- the last of the goods housed in leased space. We can't thank them enough for their dedication to our kids and for their always amazing attitudes all these years.
"We are called to help serve those who can't help themselves and have no one," says Hollingsworth. "At Two Men And A Truck, we believe in that credo and believe in the mission of Kids to Love. Giving back is one of the most important tasks we can choose to except."
