NEWS & NOTES
A monthly newsletter to keep you informed.

Greetings!
Hi!  My name is Corrie and I am excited to be your new newsletter editor.  I first became involved with American Greyhound when we adopted our first grey, Cobalt, in 2009.  Since then I have fostered, participated in the Polar Bear Plunge, and been a member of the auction committee.  Earlier this year my husband and I moved to Arizona, where we now reside with our two boys Cesium and Radium.

It is my pleasure to make this newsletter your newsletter.  If you ever have something you would like to see in our monthly notes, drop me a line at [email protected]. I would love to include your adoption stories, travel tips, and other anecdotes.  I would also love to research whatever topics you'd like to be more informed about.
Rescue Results for March and April
In March we had 6 adoptions and 8 hounds being rescued.  In April, things picked up with 10 adoptions and 1 dog rescued.  This makes our year-to-date totals 30 dogs adopted, 28 rescued (25 racers and 3 lurchers) and 10 dogs hauled for other rescues.
Big News!

If you didn't make it out to the auction this year, you missed out on some big, big news.  Leaving Tracks, Inc, the folks who held the "Canines on the Catwalk" benefit for American Greyhound last fall, have pulled out all the stops and have arranged for the raffle of a 1995 Corvette, with all proceeds benefiting American Greyhound!

The Corvette has 71,000 miles and a 300HP 6 speed transmission.  The interior is red with black leather.  The car is in excellent condition; all it needs is a driver!

Tickets for the raffle are $100 and a maximum of 250 tickets will be sold.  You can purchase your tickets here:  http://www.leavingtracks.org/default.html. The drawing will be the second weekend in August, location to be announced.

What a Wonderful Night!
On Saturday, May 3rd, at American Greyhound's 4th annual "Winning Hearts, Not races" benefit auction, over $60,000 was raised to assure that greyhounds who find themselves in need continue to have a place to turn.

This year saw the largest crowd to date....well over 300 people jammed the Avalon Manor to help make a difference.  And what a difference we made.

Our project for 2014 has been to purchase a van capable of towing the haul trailer, as well as allow older, sick or injured hounds to ride up front and allow us to monitor their condition as we traveled.  When we asked for help in covering the $32,000 price tag, YOU stepped up and donated over $21,000 to that project....almost 2/3 of the total cost of the van.

It was a wonderful night for American Greyhound.

But, it was an even more wonderful night for greyhounds!
