It's springtime and despite the recent snowstorms the grass is turning green and flowers are starting to bloom.
Spring is a time for rejuvenation, renewal and regrowth. In our own lives, spring can be symbolic of starting new projects, sewing new seeds and coming forth with new ideas. It is also a time to contemplate health and physical well-being too.
Here are 5 Springtime Activities
for Seniors
- Pack a picnic and get outside for a change of scenery. It can make a huge difference in the day. The smell of fresh air and grass along with some vitamin D is very relaxing.
- Help out with spring cleaning. Clean out a closet, sort through boxes that have been sitting in a basement or attic for a long time, or a file cabinet. Donating, disposing or selling things that are no longer useful feels good and opens up space to create something new.
- Start a patio or windowsill garden. Fresh dill, cilantro, lavender, mint, thyme, basil, and chives are easy to grow and great to have around for your favorite light springtime recipes.
-
Take a trip to your favorite state park for some birdwatching and photography. This is an excellent option for those with mobility issues and a great way to create memories that will last a lifetime. Consider bringing binoculars, a notepad to journal in and a book on birds to enhance the experience.
- Go for a walk and stop frequently to take in the sights and smells of spring. Notice children playing joyfully, buds blooming, and streams flowing with fresh water from the high country.
May you enjoy peace, love and happiness.
