MIS Students to Receive Recognition

We have just received word that MIS students did a fantastic job in the MLK Jr. poetry and art contest sponsored by NCBI Missoula and the Missoulian.  MIS had seven winning entries.  Hurray!  

The writers and artists will be celebrated  at this year’s MLK Jr. Day Celebration on Monday, January 18th from 6-7:30pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. We are so proud of our creative students.  I look forward to sharing some of the winning poetry and artwork with you in January.

The After School Adventure Begins...

Our second session of fun after school programs begin on Monday.  Contact the MIS office for complete details and to sign up!  Call 542-9924.  Spread the word! 

Mondays:

  • Techno Scratch with John Kratz ( For K-8 students! Design and program projects using Wedo and Ev3 robot kits and Scratch animation software.)
  • Youth Spanish with Jose Portillo Martinez
  • Adult Spanish with Belén Fusillo de Portillo 5-6:30 PM

Tuesdays:

  • Homework Club and English reading support with Jose Portillo Martinez 

Wednesdays:

  • Group strings class with Anneliese Gentzsch (This is ensemble playing for Suzuki strings for students level Book 1 and over)
  • Adult Spanish with Belén Fusillo de Portillo 5-6:30 PM

Thursdays:

  • Spanish Desserts cooking class with Jose Portillo Martinez is a great way for K-8 students to have fun learning Spanish and new cooking skills.

Annual MIS Garage Sale for Global Learning in the MIS gym

All MIS families please save your clothes, books, gear, toys, working electronics, kitchen goods, and more for the best Winter sale in Missoula!  

MIS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are organizing this MASSIVE garage sale to help raise funds for their annual 8th grade trip to Mexico. 

Clean our your closets and your garage and donate your items to the sale!  

Drop off donation items to the MIS gym on Friday, January 29, 1-6pm.  Questions?  Want to Volunteer?  Please contact Kay Grissom-Kiely or Nancy Winslow.  
eWaste Recycling Pick Up Date

Drop off your eWaste when you drop off your garage sale donations!
MIS will be teaming up with Opportunity eWaste Recycling to accept any unwanted electronic items.  Drop off  your eWaste items in the MIS gym on Friday, January 29, 1-6pm.
