Explosives Dropped Off At San Jose Fire Station Prompt Evacuation    
The San Jose Police Bomb Squad was called to a fire station after a man dropped off explosive materials. According to fire officials, the man found gunpowder and shotgun caps for the purpose of making shotgun shells in his storage locker in two milk-crate sized boxes and brought them to Fire Station 11 off Villages Parkway. Just watched a firefighter do CPR on someone's dog.. He brought the dog out of the house not moving.. He was breathing when I left! Those guys are awesome!!

Two displaced after fire destroys mobile home 
Two people were displaced after a fire destroyed a mobile home. The fire was reported at  in the 500 block of Saddlebrook Drive -- at the Rancho Santa Teresa Mobile Estates -- and involved a unit that was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.     Mercury News

The San Jose Fire Explorers is a division of the Boy Scouts of America. They recently hosted and open house for prospective young men and women at the SJFD training center.

There's new incentive for employees of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District to stay near the action. Metro Fire ends free mutual aid     The board for Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department approved a policy to begin charging neighboring fire departments for every two-hour stint a Metro fire truck spends responding to a fire outside the boundaries of the member townships.  The decision to charge was triggered by the disparity between the 25 times Metro gave support to surrounding fire departments during the past year compared to the five times it received aid.         Eagle Record

12.22.15  Lochridge Drive                                          Station 34 
Reports of an unattached, converted garage on fire.  Station 34 arrived at 2223 hours and reported the structure was fully involved.  Red Cross was requested for 1 adult and 3 children who were displaced.

12.23.15  Leigh Ave                                                       Station 4
Structure response to a single report of smoke from under a sink. Upon arrival the first unit reported an extinguished stove fire. Units checked for extension and found and extinguished several heat sources.
  
12.23.15  Stockton Ave                                               Station 7
Fire Communications dispatched a full first alarm assignment to multiple calls reporting a fire at a storage facility. The first arriving unit reported a fire in a single storage unit contained by the sprinklers. The fire was under control after 30 minutes.  
 
12.27.15  Kimpton Court                                            Station 2
Full 1st after receiving two calls reporting a building fire. E2 confirmed a working fire in the second floor condo of an eight unit building. The fire was contained to the involved unit and placed under control after 1 hour. SJPD assisted with traffic control and PG&E assisted with securing utilities. Red Cross was requested for two displaced occupants.

12.30.15  Sierra Av.                                                   Station 4
Callers reported a possible chimney fire and the call was upgraded to a Structure Response. After investigation the first arriving unit located a working fire and requested the balance of a Full First alarm assignment.

12.30.15  Plant Shopping Center Way                   Station 26
Report from a SJPD officer that there was a kitchen fire in the L&L Hawaiian BBQ.  E26 arrived and reported a fire on the stove top that was being controlled by the sprinklers.  The fire was knocked down and placed under control.

12.31.15 Standish Dr.                                                 Station 9
The first arriving Engine reported heavy smoke and after investigation confirmed a working shed fire that extended to the residence. Red Cross assisted the displaced occupant and board up was needed. 

1.1.16 W Virginia St.                                                 Station 30
Multiple calls reporting smoke and flames coming from a single family home.  The first arriving fire unit reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the house.  The fire was knocked down after 30 minutes.  One injury was reported and the patient transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.  Red Cross was requested for 3 displaced occupants.

1.2.16 Story Rd.                                                     Station 16
Full First alarm response to a report of a restaurant fire. Multiple reports ere received and the responding Battalion Chief upgraded the call to a 2nd Alarm. Upon arrival the first arriving unit reported an outside fire between two buildings and the 2nd Alarm units were cancelled.

1.3.16  S 10th St                                                      Station 8
A full first assignment to multiple calls for a house on fire. MED30 reported smoke showing while en route and a 2nd alarm was started. The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke showing. A 3rd alarm was called and ambulance taskforce requested. Two citizens were treated for unspecified injuries.  The fire was knocked down after 1 hour.

1.5.16  Dorrance Ct                                                     Station 9
Full First Alarm Assignment to a report of a house fire. E9 arrived and reported light smoke from the eaves. A working fire was located and knocked down in the kitchen. Two dogs were removed from the house, one of which was deceased.

1.6.16  W San Carlos St                                                Station 6
Fire Communications dispatched a Full First Alarm Assignment to a report of smoke from the old Orchard Supply building. B10 requested the 2nd Alarm at 1546 hours. The attic fire was knocked down at 1626 hours and placed under control at 1640 hours. There were no injuries reported.

1.8.16  Saddle Brook Dr                                               Station 18
Communications dispatched a full first to multiple calls of a mobile home on fire. Arriving units confirmed a fully involved double wide. The fire was knocked down at 1434 hours and under control at 1518 hours. No injuries were reported. 

SECOND ALARM
1.9.16 Snell Avenue                                                  Station 18
Full first to multiple reports of a mobile home fire. Arriving units confirmed a working kitchen fire and upgraded to a second alarm. Animal Control and the Police Department were requested for assistance.  


HAZMAT

12.29.15  Fire Station 11-Villages Parkway               Station 11 
Citizen brought "blasting caps and black powder" to the fire station. SJPD and their bomb squad were also requested. The balance of the Full First Alarm Assignment was requested at 0957 hours. Fire Department personnel along with SJPD began initial evacuations of the immediate area. The substance was determined to be shot gun primer. All appropriate notifications were made.
