  GREETINGS


With Spring most definitely in the air and Art Dubai and all the wonderful collateral events becoming just a little bit of a distant memory now, we turn to this month's inspiring Middle Eastern artworld activities to keep you informed about.

And it seems that April is fast becoming the month for Middle Eastern auctions.  We congratulate two new auctions who are launching on the scene, the first Al Bahie Auction House whose inaugural sale in Doha on 5th April features Islamic and Orientalist art and the second, Artscoops who will be selling Middle Eastern Modern and Contemporary Art in Beirut on 9th April.  Then back to London where Sotheby's and Bonhams are holding their sales on 20th and 27th April respectively. 

For this month's JRFA featured artist, the London based, Iranian  Bijan Daneshmand  tells Lisa Pollman about his work and how it's inspired by Persian architecture and mathematical principles.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce that our website is now responsive, so whether you are logging on from your phone or tablet or laptop, your viewing experience will always be optimised.

At one time, you worked as a Civil Engineer. Does your education and training in this specific occupation have an impact on your work? How?

Having focused over past months on more international art markets, for April we are returning to the Middle Eastern art scene and have selected just a few of the many articles which have appeared lately (space sadly limits us from listing them all).
