Fall is here and we have many exciting new changes brewing at Dawson Builders. 

Our Building and Design Center continues to grow and our Property Management area is launching a new Smart Home product.  The Smart Home product enables you to have confidence that your home is being monitored----no matter where you are.  Several of our customers who "winter" in the warm climates asked us to help them with the two things they worry about while they are away ... water and temperature.  We found even our customers who don't leave for the winter are interested in a solution for these home concerns. 

The Smart Home, which involves wireless technology to help manage and monitor your home, is starting to take off across the country.  To our knowledge, we are the ONLY Builder to package the Smart Home product with a solution--- our repair response team. 

Have you ever left your house wondering:
  • Did I close my garage door? 
  • Do I have water in my basement from a faulty sump pump? 
  • Did we turn on/off the lights? 
  • Is our furnace working? 
  • Is the dog on the couch? 
  • Did they snowplow my driveway?

Now, you can check on your house from your cell phone. We will install water sensors, door contacts, light timers, cameras, motion detectors, and connect sensors to the thermostat on your furnace, all of which can be viewed via your phone or personal device. 


 The unique value proposition we offer is to passively monitor the water sensor and your furnace thermostat for potential trouble. And when trouble arises, a message will be sent to your cell phone, PLUS Dawson Builders receives a notification in our Center. If you are away, we will send a response team to assess and fix the problem. The amazing part?  The cost is very affordable for this peace-of-mind solution... being able to monitor your home from your phone when you are away.

The Smart Home Services


We are always looking for unique ways to service our customers in their homes. Our new state-of-the-art Home Monitoring solution is reliable, affordable and worry free. Providing a service that removes the worry when they are away from home for a day or for the winter season is an added value that our customers want.

The main equipment is installed and the leak sensor and the thermostat are monitored by Dawson Builders. 

The various components include:
  • The Main Hub
  • Motion Sensor
  • Leak/Water Sensor
  • On/Off Dimmer
  • Thermostat
  • Camera
  • Door Contacts

Managing Our Growth

Recent research from the National Association of Home Builders says the economic downturn has driven thousands of craftsmen and laborers from housing and other industries, and they have not come back yet.  After the recession, a lack of contractor workers is making it difficult for the home construction industry. The survey shows the labor shortage for QUALITY subcontractors is "substantially more widespread" since 2013, when the housing recovery took hold.  

Fortunately for Dawson Builders, our business continues to expand and grow which also means we continue to search for new, talented, quality employees to help serve your needs. Our challenge is finding the quality employees to stay ahead of our growth. While the talent pool has shrunk in the industry, we are taking action and hired 5 new employees in the last quarter:
  • Jerry Vauk - Electrical laborer
  • Gino Gramarossa - Laborer/Driver
  • Lucas Hudson - Project Manager
  • Nancy Dorociak - Manager, Property Management/Smart Home
  • Raul Ramirez - Painter. 
We are doing our best to manage customer expectations and take the necessary measures to help ensure our customers are not impacted by these changes. We appreciate your patience during this process.

Fall and Spring Service Contracts

Just a reminder that Dawson Builders offers fall and spring home service contracts at a cost of $225 for each season. After our introduction last year, many of our customers found this to be helpful maintenance for their home.

Fall Service Checklist/ Getting Ready for Winter:
* Inspect and clean furnace
* Inspect and clean humidifier
* Turn on water line to humidifier
* Change filters for the furnace and humidifier
* Send reminder messages to change filters
* Drain bottom of water heater to prevent sediment build up
* Check water softener
* Check water in battery back-up for sump pumps
