CHRIST CATHEDRAL EASTER CARILLON CONCERT SERIES

Come join us as we celebrate the Easter Season by attending a lunch time Carillon Concert every Wednesday, April 6 through May 11 from 12:40-1:00 p.m. on Christ Cathedral Campus. Bring your lunch, and hear the bells ring out beautiful melodies of Easter joy at this free concert series!

On the 10th anniversary of the Crystal Cathedral, this beautiful 236-foot Bell Tower was dedicated. As one of Orange County's tallest structures, the tower is comprised of highly polished, mirrored quality, stainless steel prisms forming a spectacular spire which catches the light from all directions. This Philip Johnson-designed completion of the former Crystal Cathedral houses a 52-bell carillon named in honor of Dr. Schuller's wife, Arvella Schuller. The spire has been named the Crean Tower honoring John and Donna Crean, who provided a large gift to begin construction in 1988.

This concert series will feature carillonneur, Melissa Weidner. Ms. Weidner is a professional musician in Southern California, specializes in keyboard instrument performance.

Have you ever wondered how a 52 bell carillon is played from a position over 200 feet above the ground?

STATIONS OF MERCY at CHRIST CATHEDRAL

D uring this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has called for a renewed zeal and commitment to doing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. As a special element of being a pilgrimage site in the Diocese of Orange during the Year of Mercy, the Orange Catholic Foundation supported the  Stations of Mercy at Christ Cathedral .

Various sites on the campus have been dedicated to one of the works of mercy. The Stations provide a way for pilgrims and visitors to walk the campus and prayerfully reflect on the Works of Mercy as outlined by Pope Francis in the document proclaiming the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

There is signage to designate each Station.  A pamphlet is available that provides a description of each Station, a brief reflection, and a prayer. The guide is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Pope Francis writes, "Mercy is the bridge that connects God and humanity, opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness."  Through the grace of our merciful Father, may these Stations of Mercy at Christ Cathedral be places where hearts are opened and mercy is found.
