It was yet another record year at the Tri-County Regional
Collection Facility.  The numbers since 2005 when the facility
opened have been astronomical and the tradition continues.

Tri-County Regional Collection Facility (TCRCF)
Makes Policy Change

The electronics recycling industry has been experiencing some growing pains over the past couple of years. The overwhelming volume of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) glass, combined with rapidly falling commodity prices, has forced everyone to tighten their belt. Here at the TCRCF, that means we are now working with a new electronics processor, and as a result, we need to address "salvage" TVs differently than in the past. "Salvage" TVs, for our purposes, would be defined as any TV that has broken glass, is missing its cord, electronic components and/or copper yoke. The TCRCF is now imposing a  $.50 / lb. fee for "salvage" TVs to cover the cost of handling and disposal.

Please be aware that putting your TV out at the curb during cleanup days exposes you to this fee. These city-wide events are prime hunting grounds for individuals who will cut the cords and break open your TV for the copper inside. Save yourself the expense and hassle.

The Tri-County Resource & Waste Management Council (TCR&WMC) represents and meets the solid waste management needs of incorporated and unincorporated communities in McDonough, Mercer, and Warren counties.  The council's Solid Waste Coordinator provides a comprehensive approach to solid waste issues.  For more information about the TCR&WMC, call 309-331-4782.
