Dear Fairview Library Community,
Welcome once again to Fairview Free Public Library's monthly newslet
ter. Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? The library will host 2 poetry programs on the last 2 Fridays of the month. One of which is an All Ages Open Mic - read your own work or someone else's (just give credit where credit is due!). Please submit poems you plan to recite here: [email protected].
Call or visit the library for more details - registration is required for both events. For more information:
April Calendar
Recently, I read a book called, What Belongs to You by Garth Greenwell - one of 50 books I am challenging myself to read this year. While on a train with his mother, the main character observes,"Making poems was a way of loving things, I had always thought, of preserving them, of living moments twice; or more than that, it was a way of living more fully, of bestowing on experience a richer meaning." Aren't they beautiful words to contemplate this month? We hope you will participate and live moments twice with us!
Sincerely,
Kristin Nelson, Library Director

I want to be famous in the way a pulley is famous,
or a buttonhole, not because it did anything spectacular,
but because it never forgot what it could do.
