Back-to-Back National Champions
After losing four starters from the 2015 USA National Post Grad championship team, this year's Southside Virginia Community College basketball team on paper looked to be one in a rebuilding phase.

The inexperienced team struggled early, playing a grueling schedule that included five road games against nationally ranked NJCAA programs. But the young SVCC team also showed some early potential, topping last year's NJCAA national champion, Richard Bland College, in an early season scrimmage and then shocking eighth-ranked and undefeated Bryant & Stratton College in December.

SVCC Community Making a Difference

Tonia Talbott,SVCC Counselor, with local children

Several members of the SVCC community spent their spring break in Honduras on a medical mission trip with the Friends of Barnabas Foundation.  From SVCC, the team included current students Madison Moody and Bryce Little, faculty member Martha Reed, counselor Tonia Talbott, and RN program graduate Michael Gallagher. Other team members were from various areas and included nurses, a pharmacy technician and a physician's assistant, as well as a faculty member and a student from Longwood University.
