Sucre, Bolivia mission

Partnership in Mission team will be leaving on April 2nd for Sucre, Bolivia. Please keep the mission team in your prayers. We leave O’hare at 9:00am on Saturday and (if everything goes according to plans) we should arrive in Sucre early Sunday afternoon. We will spend our two weeks in Sucre doing surgery, construction, and outreach.

The surgical team will be working at the Hospital Cristo de las Americas. The focus for surgeries this year will be general and orthopedic surgeries, though as we know mission throws some surprises in the mix. The clinic team will work in several locations as they have done in the past.

Construction will work a project similar to the one we did last year. We will build a bathroom (banos) and a cooking area. We will also work at the hospital complex on some maintenance needs.

Our Outreach team will be busy helping a number of neighborhoods improve their water through the Water with Blessing program. Women are educated in the importance of clean water for their community. The use of the water filter becomes a ministry.

Mission to Africa

Are you being called to mission? Is Africa where you’re looking?  We are planning two missions to Africa in the fall and are looking for a few good people to go. If you have been there before or are called for the first time, here’s your opportunity.

We are returning to Naivasha, Kenya and renewing our partnership with Upendo Village!  Our September mission to Upendo Village will be a clinical mission. We will be working at Upendo Village and in the surrounding communities. We will not be working at the hospital. Also there is an opportunity for construction.  Many of you have been to Upendo Village in the past. Here’s a chance to renew old friendships. The dates of this mission are September 9th through the 24th.

In October we are planning our first mission ever to Ibanda, Uganda. This is a new partnership with the Archdiocese of Mbarara. The hospital is building out their operating rooms to better serve the people of the Ibanda area. What a great way to celebrate the new ORs by being part of the mission to Ibanda. The hospital we will be working at is also connected to a nursing school. Here’s a great opportunity for us to share experiences with new nursing students and for you to share your experiences. Since this is a new mission you will be part of the team that sets the standards for the Uganda mission, are you up to the challenge?

Faith Promise Dinner

This year we are going to try something new for our annual Faith Promise Dinner. As you know the Faith Promise Dinner is our once a year dinner where you can pledge support for Partnership in Mission. It is somewhat unique in what it does. We invite people to come to dinner, share our stories of mission, honor people who are dedicated examples of mission, and invite you to pledge your support for our mission partners. Your pledges not only help the medical/construction/outreach projects, but allows you to participate as a missioner from afar. It's a way for you to Proclaim the Gospel. Not everyone is called to go to a mission site, but by our baptism we are call to be missioners in the best way we can.

This year our guest speaker is Fr. Burke Masters. Who just returned from the Philippines mission where he was able to minister to people in the hospital and villages of Eastern Samar. If you were able to follow his blog and Facebook posts you’re aware of his travels. If you weren’t able to follow his comments, come to the Faith Promise Dinner and hear Fr. Burke’s story. Oh, the new twist, we’re having the Faith Promise Dinner on Sunday , November 13th 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Abbington,  in Glen Ellyn, IL. Mark your calendars and plan on coming. Remember last year’s great menu?
