From SFO, take free shuttle from airport to SFO BART station. One-way fare to Downtown Berkeley Station is $9.25*
The Oakland Airport BART station is located just across from the Terminal 1 baggage claim area and a short walk from Terminal 2. One-way fare to Downtown Berkeley Station is $8.50*
*Board Richmond-bound train, getting off at Downtown Berkeley station. From exit, walk about four blocks south on Shattuck Avenue and take left onto Durant Avenue. The Jodo Shinshu Center is at the end of this block.

Summer Pacific Seminar Update
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Professors Ugo Dessi and Elisabetta Porcu will not be able to take part in the August 19-21, 2016 Summer Pacific Seminar, “Jodo Shinshu Buddhism Beyond Borders,” taking place at the Jodo Shinshu Center in Berkeley, CA.
However, co-presenters, CBE and IBS, are happy to announce that two other outstanding scholars will provide keynote presentations. Please see below for details. Introducing the New Keynote Speakers
Professor Jessica L. Main of the University of British Columbia will speak about religious hatred and discrimination and religious reconciliation, especially as they pertain to Jodo Shinshu in Japan and the US.
Professor Mark Blum of the University of California, Berkeley will discuss the significance of social action as both interior and exterior forms of practice and self-examination in Pure Land and Shin Buddhism.
The new deadline for registration is August 13, 2016.
Buddhist Churches of America (BCA) member rates are $125 until August 7. General registration is $140. General registration deadline has been extended to August 13.

Continuing in the spirit of the Pacific Seminars which enlivened the Jodo Shinshu movement in the US after WWII, the IBS and the BCA Center for Buddhist Education re-initiated the Pacific Seminar – 21st Century in 2008 shortly after the Jodo Shinshu Center first opened, ushering in a new era for Jodo Shinshu Buddhist education. In addition to the two-day annual summer session, one-day Winter and Spring Pacific Seminar sessions have been hosted in Southern California and in the Northwest.
