Help Us Plan Our 19th Biennial Conference in Milwaukee!!
Along with our co-conveners, St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, we're calling on the best of the intergenerational field to help us plan and attend the Global Intergenerational Conference, June 13-17, 2017 in Milwaukee, WI. This one-of-a-kind international conference provides a unique opportunity to learn, network and share innovative practices and programs in the intergenerational field.

New Education Opportunity for Professionals Working with Grandfamilies
 The University of Maine Center on Aging has created a certificate program providing core education, technical support, and leadership development for practitioners and professionals delivering grandfamily and kinship services across the country. This online certificate program is comprised of 9 modules delivered over a 12-week period using a cohort model. Ana Beltan, Attorney and Special Advisor to Generations United's National Center on Grandfamilies, is responsible for the legal module. The University of Maine Center on Aging is currently collecting fall 2016 wait list registrations for this popular program. For more information and to join the wait list, visit www.kinshipcert.org

Kit's Wilderness
Thirteen-year-old Kit and his family have moved back to Stoneygate,
an old coal-mining town
, to be with his grandfather who is succumbing to Alzheimer's Disease. Kit's Wilderness
examines the bonds of family from one generation to the next, and explores how meaning and beauty can be revealed from the depths of darkness. While in Stoneygate, Kit meets John Askew, another boy whose family has both worked and died in the mines.
As Kit's grandfather tells him stories of the mine's past and the history of the Watson family, Askew takes Kit into the mines, where the boys look to find the childhood ghosts of their long-gone ancestors.

Habitat Intergenerational Program (HIP)
This Massachusetts program promotes awareness and conservation of the natural environment through educational programs and community service projects coordinated by Massachusetts Audubon's Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary. Community service and educational activities take place within the 84-acre sanctuary and out in the surrounding communities. HIP activities bring people of all ages together to work on a variety of environmental service projects: removing invasive species, helping to rejuvenate a pond, restoring walking trails, and creating wildlife habitat areas at schools using only native plants. Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities
The Community-Police Partnership Awards, sponsored by the MetLife Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), recognize, sustain, and share the work of innovative partnerships between community groups and police to promote neighborhood safety and revitalization. Awards ranging from $15,000 to $20,000 are provided in 9 different categories, including Blight Reduction; Civic Engagement; School-Based Programs; and Gang Prevention and Youth Safety. Deadline: April 17, 2016

Capital Grants for Education and Healthcare in Seventeen States
The Gladys Brooks Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations located in the seventeen states.The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on libraries, educational institutions, and hospitals and clinics in the targeted states. Grant applications will be considered only for major expenditures, generally between $50,000 and $100,000. Funds are intended to be used for capital projects, including equipment and endowments. The EPA will
give
grants nationwide to

Harvard Kennedy School's Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation is offering the $100,000
Roy and Lila Ash Innovations Award for Public Engagement in Government
, a special Innovations Award that will recognize government-led programs that demonstrate novel and effective approaches to increasing public engagement and participation in the governance of towns, cities, states, and the nation.
