IN THIS ISSUE:
Dear Friends,
April is almost here with warmer and longer days and we are getting ready for the Red Sox to start another baseball season! New this spring, we have two events that will be held in Boston including the CFO Gala at Fenway Park!

Traditionally the FEI Boston April Executive Event is dedicated to scholarship winners from local area colleges and universities. This event is always my favorite night to meet the best and brightest students and hopefully future FEI Boston members! The students are truly outstanding individuals that have achieved high academic success and also have dedicated their time to give back to the community. This event would not be possible without the leadership of Rick Melnick, Chair of the Academic Relations Committee. This Committee has been meeting since September to screen applicants and I want to thank them for their time and dedication to FEI Boston.

We are very excited to have J. Keith Motley as our guest speaker on April 13th at the new UMass Club in Boston (One Beacon Street, 32nd Floor). Dr. Motley will discuss the transformation of the UMass Boston campus from a local commuter school to a nationally recognized university and the importance of UMass for the economic growth in Massachusetts. The future of a strong UMass System is very important to make sure that Boston and all of Massachusetts remains competitive in the global economy.

Chancellor Motley is overseeing a newly launched and highly ambitious master plan and strategic planning initiatives that reflect the university's determination to remain true to its origins as a teaching institution while enhancing its standing in research, preparing its students to succeed in the international workplace and growing the university as a source of knowledge for public service.

As a leader and voice in national higher education policy, Dr. Motley was the former Chair of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), and serves on the boards of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Also, we look forward to seeing you at the 2016 Boston CFO Networking Event on May 19th at Boston's historic Fenway Park from 6-9PM. FEI Boston is coordinating this high energy networking event with ALPFA, Boston Women in Finance, Conexion, FENG, Institute of Management Accountants, National Association of Asian American Professionals, National Association of Black Accountants, New England Association of Financial Professionals, North Shore Tech Council, Massachusetts Society of CPAs and Treasurer's Club of Boston. Last year's event at Gillette Stadium attracted over 300 financial professionals and we anticipate that this year's event will be even bigger, so please register early.

Please sign up for the Career Services and Professional Development programs as they have outstanding content and great networking! Please remember that these events are free to members and their guests. Please visit www.FEIBoston.org to register for these great events.

I encourage you to invite a friend or colleague to the April Executive Event and I look forward to seeing you at the UMass Club on April 13th! Please note, if you park at the garage at the building, after 4:00pm, the charge is only $8.00.

Best Regards,
Edward J. Keefe

The Boston Business Journal's CFO of the Year Awards are given to the Chief
Financial Officers and their teams who deliver the most outstanding performance for their companies between January 2015 and April 2016. A panel of independent judges, drawn from the region's top financial leaders and past winners, will determine the winners based on criteria that will include: demonstrated financial growth during the year, success in overcoming significant business challenges or barriers, and examples of team leadership and superior management. Other factors may include a chief financial officer's contributions to the community (such as social, nonprofit or haritable giving), demonstrated commitment to the company's financial best practices and accounting standards, or success as a strategic visionary for the enterprise.  BBJ CFO of the Year 2016 nominations are open here .
FEI is conducting a Boston Chapter Satisfaction Survey  that will support the framework for determining the Outstanding Chapter Award winners. This will be presented to one Chapter in each tier for overall member satisfaction.

The survey should take less than 2 minutes to complete and will close on April 30. As a thank you to those that participation, each individual that completes the survey will be entered into a random drawing for a chance to win one of three $100 Amazon gift cards.
