Spring Landscaping and Stormwater Maintenance
Examples of yard debris impeding the stormwater system
Spring is here and your quest to win "Yard of the Month" begins now. As you start sprucing up your lawn for the warmer months, please remember to follow Town Ordinances in properly disposing of yard debris such as grass clippings, branches, leaves, etc. All yard debris should be collected and sealed in large brown bags. The bags should be placed at the street for free pick-up by our Public Services Department on the same day as your regular weekly garbage collection. Larger items such as branches should be stacked neatly at the curb.

When yard debris gets into the stormwater drains and grates, it clogs up the system and promotes growth in stormwater ponds, lakes, and ditches. Please do your part by ensuring that yard debris is properly disposed, pet waste is removed, and stormwater assets are clear from all foliage such as pinestraw and mulch.
