2015 EUEC Wrap Up

The 2015 EUEC in San Diego, CA, found Carbonxt team members in attendance with a full schedule. Whether we were fielding questions at our booth, meeting with partners or attending technical sessions and social events, our days were highly productive.

Applications Engineer Erica Gonzaga provided an insightful presentation entitled "Activated Carbon for MATS Compliance: Getting the Most Out of Your RFP." The presentation featured suggestions for utilities regarding both the technical and business aspects of the RFP document, focusing on how to avoid potential pitfalls while making the process more efficient.

As always, the opportunity to share our company philosophy, industry knowledge and R&D experience with utilities is of great importance to us. Please contact us if you would like a copy of the presentation or to schedule a time for Carbonxt team members to visit your office.

Young Power Professionals (YoPPros)

The 2015 EUEC in sunny San Diego was the site for our second Young Power Professionals networking event, which was a resounding success! Held in San Diego's Gaslamp District at the newly opened Garage Kitchen + Bar, the event featured food, drinks and camaraderie for the young and the young at heart.

YoPPros strives to offer opportunities for our young professionals to mingle and meet with their peers as well as with those who have more industry experience. One of the main goals of the group is to bring individuals together outside of the formal conference, enabling young professionals to meet new contacts and form relationships that will provide guidance and support as they grow in their careers.

Our next YoPPros event is scheduled for APC Roundtable in July. If you or your company would be interested in co-sponsoring the event with us, please contact Priscilla Kissinger at  p.kissinger@carbonxt.com.

Pre-WFGD Injection of PAC

Carbonxt is awaiting final notice that we have been awarded a patent for pre-WFGD injection of PAC for mercury (Hg) removal. Injecting pre-WFGD could prove beneficial for multiple reasons.  At this injection location flue gas temperatures are lower, PAC contact time would be longer, acid gases that are detrimental to Hg capture are less prevalent, and it may also prevent Hg re-emissions from the WFGD.

In recent tests, Carbonxt non-halogenated PACs have been demonstrated to effectively remove mercury from wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) wastewater without the drawbacks associated with chemical additives.  Based on lab results, our MATS-PAC? proved to be an economical solution to reach the proposed Effluent Limitation Guideline (ELG) limit of 0.119 ?g/L. At this time independent  full-scale testing on PAC injection pre-WFGD has also been completed, with data and results pending release.

More information will be forthcoming as available.
