1st/Campbell-Grant Road Coalition What we ask...
|
The neighborhoods' coalition proposes:
*
No change in zoning along Phase II section of Grant - Keep R-1 and NR-1 segments
* Closing Hampton at Grant to alleviate cross traffic thru neighborhood
*Noise and visual mitigation for the remaining adjacent residential area
* The bordering street "remnants" be utilized as a bike/walk green space
* The public input meeting (tentatively scheduled for sometime in September) be exclusively Phase II - The issues are unique,no other phase bisects mostly residential area nor impacts historic district boundaries
Note: Per the request of the coalition, preliminary information from Aug 4 meeting minutes, is that the CDOT, director, Daryl Cole, will commit to paying for the consultant to redraw the Historic Boundaries of Jefferson Park to compensate for the 23 historic homes lost.
|
Do You Agree? The coalition needs your support.
Jefferson Park neighbors stood together to achieve Historic Status, to fund historic district street signs, to have the Neighborhood Preservation Zone overlay and the ruling limiting the number of unrelated people who can live in a mini-dorm. Jefferson Park has a history of activism and maintains a vision for an ideal urban neighborhood.
All of Tucson benefits from strong, vibrant, viable urban neighborhoods.

New developments make an exciting project possible!
|
Developments in the past 4 years make a
neighborhood bike/walk project possible
1) Banner will create a green space along the Lester street in the "Elm Street Enhancement" area; 2) The Park Ave Enhancement Project will create bike and walking paths; and finally 3) the Grant Road Project
can complete the loop with some creative and residential-friendly designs.
With everyone's support it can happen.

DUCKY RACE SHOWCASED JP WATER RUN-OFF PROBLEM..IT WAS FUN and wet!
|
|
Collecting the duckies at the finish line before they are "finished" by a car on Grant Road. Super wet job!
|
Brave race
aficionados waded in and followed ducks from Lester to Grant...in the rain...and in the Grant car spray.
The winners belonged to 1st- Pat Hurley, 2nd-Louie Werthmuller, and 3rd-Joan Daniels.Proceeds from the event were a much needed $512.
The neighborhood remains grateful that Banner Health has agreed to address the water run-off from the impermeable pavement surrounding the buildings. However, theirs is only part of the run-off problem. Joan Hall, JPNA secretary says "Maybe one day the UA will address run-off from its properties south of JPN, the way that Banner is doing for the area east of Cherry."
|
The proposal includes $25M for neighborhood reinvestment grants.
