University of Redlands Offers Tuition Discounts to FC Students and Staff
Fullerton College has partnered with the University of Redlands to offer transfer students and staff a discount on tuition when they pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree at any one of the university's eight campuses in Southern California. The discount is available to students attending University of Redlands' School of Business or School of Education.

Book Club Seeks New Members
The Fullerton College Leisure Reading Book Group is looking for new students to join their monthly book group. The first meeting of the semester will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. in Building 800, Room 827, where students will have a chance to choose the spring book selection.

Anthropology Department Open House
The Fullerton College Anthropology Department is hosting an Open House and celebrating World Anthropology Day on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Building 1400, Room 1416. All students, staff and faculty are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served and there will be brief talks on the four fields of anthropology: cultural, physical, linguistics and archaeology. Come meet anthropology faculty and learn about the fascinating and relevant field of anthropology.

Financial Aid Offers Assistance Through the Spring Semester
Starting this spring, students can complete the FAFSA/Dream Act Application at an FC computer lab with assistance from the Financial Aid Office. During Financial Aid Fridays, students can complete the verification process, obtain valuable resources, and get answers to all their financial aid questions.

In an effort to encourage communication and strengthen teamwork across campus, Interim President Greg Schulz has scheduled a series of Open Forums. Nominations for Men & Women of Distinction Due Feb. 18
The deadline to nominate students for the Men & Women of Distinction Awards is Feb. 18. Nominations are due in the Office of Student Affairs by 5 p.m. Recipients of the Men & Women of Distinction Awards represent the top scholars of the college or those students who have distinguished themselves in their field of study or involvement at FC or in the community. The student must also be moving on from FC by Summer 2016. Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate more than one student for the award. Receive Transfer Assistance at These Workshops
The Transfer Center is hosting several workshops this week to help students with their transfer goals. Today, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 19 at noon, a Common Application workshop will provide assistance with filling out the application. On Wednesday, Feb. 17 at noon, the After You Apply Part 3 workshop provides students with an overview of the next steps that are required after submitting applications to CSU or UC. This Week's African American History Month Events
An educational screening of
Freedom Riders will be shown in the Cadena Transfer Center in Building 200, Room 212 today, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. This documentary tells the story of six months in 1961 that changed America forever, when more than 400 black and white Americans risked their lives traveling together on buses and trains as they journeyed through the Deep South. The second annual African American forum features a keynote by Cadena Cultural Center Specialist Brandi Avila on the topic of "Black Lives Matter." Avila has an M.A. in Sociology from Cal State Northridge. The forum is on Thursday, Feb. 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Room 224. For a full list of events for the month,

Basic Skills is beginning their Spring Student Success workshop series with two events this week. On Wednesday, Feb 17 the Find Your Balance: Time Management Skills for Success workshop will run from 11 a.m. to noon. On Thursday, Feb. 18 the Building Your Network of Support: How to Find the Help You Need in College workshop will run from 4 to 5 p.m. All workshops are in Building 800, Room 808A.

FC Students and Faculty Perform at Music Education Conferences
Fullerton College music programs and faculty have a high profile presence at the 2016 California All-State Music Educators Conference in San Jose, CA. The Fullerton College Concert Choir, directed by John Tebay, was selected for a featured performance choir on Feb. 12.

Men's Basketball
The Hornets did what they had to do at home Thursday night beating Santa Ana College 105-53.
Up Next: The Hornets (21-5, 9-1) will play two crucial road games that will determine their fate on the OEC and where they will land in the post-season. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, FC will play at Saddleback College (24-1, 10-0) at 7 p.m. On Friday, Feb. 19, Fullerton will play at cross-town rival Cypress College (20-6, 7-3) at 7 p.m.
Women's Basketball
Fullerton came in with thoughts of upsetting Santa Ana College in the Hornets Nest on Thursday night, but the Dons were too strong, beating the Hornets 75-57.
Up Next: Fullerton (5-17, 1-9) will play the final two games of the season on the road. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, FC will play at Saddleback College at 5 p.m. On Friday, Feb. 19, the Lady Hornets will play down the street at Cypress College at 5 p.m.
Baseball
The Hornet baseball team traveled up to Bakersfield College to play two games on Friday and Saturday and won both over the Renegades. In the first game on Friday, Fullerton won by a narrow margin of 3-2. In the second game on Saturday, the Hornet bats were lively as they garnered 11 total hits to Bakersfield's 6 winning the game 7-2.
Up Next: The Hornets (5-1 overall) will travel south to San Diego County to play at Southwestern College today. The first pitch goes out at 2 p.m.
Softball
The Lady Hornets knocked out two ranked teams on Friday while playing at the College of the Canyons mini tourney. In game one, FC dropped the mercy hammer on El Camino College 9-1 in six innings. Game two saw the Hornets edging College of the Canyons 7-6.
Up Next: Fullerton (4-4) will host Golden West College to open conference-play this Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m.
Track and Field
The Hornets opened up the 2016 season at Bakersfield College this past Friday for the Battle of the Regions Invitational. Sam Duong won the 400m hurdles and Jasmine Mendoza took third place. Cydney Chavers finished in third place in shot put and discus. Madison Farnsworth took fifth place in shot put, and Amber Hernandez opened up her season with sixth place in the hammer throw.
Up Next: On Friday, Feb. 19, the Hornets will compete at Saddleback College against Orange Empire Conference rivals Saddleback and Orange Coast Colleges. Events begin at noon.
