The Spokane River Forum is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that creates materials, events and activities that promote sustaining a healthy river system while meeting the needs of a growing population.
September was for Falling in Love with the Spokane River

Over the past month the river called to thousands as events inspired us to splash, play and frolic; clean by barge and by foot; paddle, bike and walk; collaborate between non-profit, business and governmental organizations; and collectively look to a promising future. If a picture is worth a thousand words, here are a few of our favorites that tell the story of our September romance.
Over 11 tons of trash cleaned from the Spokane River

Kudos to the volunteers and organizations that cleared over 22,000 pounds of debris from the Spokane River. The barge clean-up collected over 4 tons; the Spokane River Cleanup saw over 600 volunteers collect over six tons of garbage and recyclables from University District through the Gorge; and the remainder represents the efforts of 60 volunteers who did Upriver Scrub in the Valley. Amazing.
Thank you Johnson Controls

Begun in 2010, the Forum has been a proud partner in Upriver Scrub, Spokane Valley's river cleanup effort. Inspired by the Northwest Whitewater Association, Upriver Scrub's title sponsor since its inception has been Johnson Controls, an international company with 130,000 employees that specializes in optimizing energy and operational efficiencies of buildings. Their Blue Sky Involve Program encourages employees in communities like ours to form volunteer groups and work with local non-profit organizations to support environmental stewardship activities like Upriver Scrub.
