To find out if the Library is open or closed, call the library at 203.797.4505 and a recorded message will alert you if there is a delayed opening or if the library is closed.  Closings will also be announced on radio stations WLAD (800 AM), 98Q(98.3 FM), WFSB 3 TV, and ctweather.com.  Additionally, if City Hall is closed, the Library will also be closed.

New FREE iPhone App!  The 1000 Books Foundation has announced the release of the "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" iPhone App.  "Scan" books into your child's permanent library, click the books that he/she reads and the App tracks their progress toward the goal. The App can track multiple readers so if
you want to track multiple children or your own reading, you can.  Download it now!

Lending Procedures
 
To help reduce the amount of time you have to wait for our newest arrivals, all NEW BOOKS now have a
14-day checkout period.  New items can be renewed one time, if there are no holds on the item.  The late fee will be 25¢ a day, per item.
If we don't have an item that you are interested in, you can suggest a title for us to consider purchasing by going online to danburylibrary.org, clicking on "How Do I" then "Suggest a Purchase" or if you're in the library, just stop by the "Ask Me!" service desk.  We're happy to get your suggestions.

When you use a self-checkout machine, you can now place 2 or 3 items on the checkout pad at the same time and let the machine do the work for you.
 
And, when you select "email receipt," you only need to type it in once. The next time you visit and select "email receipt", your email address will automatically pop up. It's all so much easier now!
 
Change in Library Administration

Lambert Shell has left the Danbury Library after serving two years as its Director. He is now the director of the Roosevelt Library in Roosevelt, NY. Katie Ventura, who has served as Assistant Director since November 2013, has become the interim director.
Exciting Author Event!
 
Jane Bryant Quinn, personal finance expert, columnist and author, will visit the Danbury Library in January to talk about her soon-to-be-released book "How to Make Your Money Last: The Indispensable Retirement Guide" (January 5, 2016, Simon & Schuster).
