Who doesn't love a great bottle of Pinot Noir these days? Burgundy, with all its pitfalls, is as popular as ever, and our Pinot Noir section in the shop gets beat up more than any other.
Today, I would like to offer something very special. When I first tasted this amazing Pinot, I immediately bought all I could (and it wasn't that much, since allocations and production are tiny), without even looking at professional reviews. Yes, there was a bit of reduction a few months back, but what I saw beyond that was thrilling and special. I knew right away that this wine would blossom into something great. I thought it was a dead ringer for a superb example of a DRC wine. No exaggeration.
Ross Cobb is a master winemaker, and Coastlands is still sold to William Selyem (since 1994) for their best Pinot.
The 2012 Coastlands Old First is absolutely spectacular now but I have zero doubts that it will turn out even better with a few more years in bottle.
