Looking to Volunteer?
|
There are a few opportunities parents have to volunteer:
Become involved with Mount Union Women
Mount Union Women was founded in 1933 to support the education of women. Any female graduate or friend of the University may be a member. The organization has active chapters in Alliance and Canton/Massillon that work the concession stands at home football games and host programs throughout the year to raise money for scholarships. Numerous scholarships are awarded each year to deserving female students at Mount Union. Contact the Alumni Office indicating your interest.
Become a career mentor through our web-based Exceptional Connections program. This exciting program was designed specifically for Mount Union and recently launched to connect students, alumni and friends of the institution. Connect for mentoring, shadowing or internship opportunities, classroom speaking possibilities and connecting for general career advice.
Participate in M Club events
M Club is the
alumni varsity letter winner association that holds several events throughout the year to support current Raider athletic programs. All Raider fans are invited to their annual Reverse Raffle & Silent Auction and their summer Golf Outing.

A Message from the President
|
|
Dear Parents,
One of the challenges every o
rg
a
n
i
zation faces concerns improvement. How do we find
the
time to think about how to do things better and make
n
e
eded changes when everyone is running hard just ta
king care of their dai
ly work? As the saying goes, "When you're up to your waist in alligators, it's easy to forge
t that your plan was to drain the swamp."
I want to tell you about three significant improvement programs at Mount Union:
1)
The University's participation in the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) is one of the ways we maintain good standing with our main accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission. Dozens of improvement projects have been launched and completed by the AQIP team, and others, on campus.
2)
We're about to convene an important review process looking at the University's innovative Integrative Core curriculum. We are about to graduate seniors who have been through all four years of the Core, so it's an important time to take stock of what has worked and what hasn't. A committee of faculty members and students will be conducting this review.
3)
And, finally, the University is launching this month a community-wide strategic planning process, designed to chart our course for the next five years. I expect significant improvement initiatives - focusing on curriculum, student life, preparation for careers and graduate study, and many other topics - to result.
Look for news and updates in the coming months about these and other improvement efforts. We're dedicated to providing our students an excellent and innovative education, and we know we can always get better.
Best regards,
Dick Merriman President

Student Financial Services
The Office of Student Financial Services offers the following reminders:
- The last day to apply for a Federal Direct or Federal Direct Parent PLUS loan for the 2015-2016 Academic Year is Friday, April 29.
- To ensure that your student can register on time for the fall semester, please check Self-Service to confirm that your balance is paid. In the event that you have a balance, loan options may be available. Contact Student Financial Services for more information.
- You can now file the 2016-2017 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov. We highly encourage you to first file your taxes, and then use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool embedded in the FAFSA. This tool allows the IRS to transmit your 2015 Federal Tax Return data directly onto your FAFSA. This reduces the number of errors as well as the amount of documentation our office will request from you.
