Dear Reader,
Valentine's Day is on Sunday and if you're looking for a little something, look at our suggestions below. Here are some announcements that bear repeating:
We are ready to start forming up a book group that will meet here at the store. Please join us at 5pm on Saturday, February 27 to meet others who are interested and talk about book selection and formation. Plus everyone will go home with a free advance copy of a book. Mark your calendar now.
I want everyone to know about
Feather River Art Camp for adults. We will be hanging art from 2015 session campers for the month of March and on the 5th there will be folks on hand to answer questions about camp and how awesome it is. I was there so I know you can't wait to see my art. Well, come and see what it's all about anyway.
Speaking of art we have started painting classes again on Saturdays.
Here's more information. Don't be afraid of being creative!
Happy Reading,
Luan

Ideas For Loved Ones
Tangled Vines by Frances Dinkelspiel $26.99 Intrigue and arson in the wine country. Pair with a nice bottle of something tasty from Downtown Wine Merchants next door. Better yet, tuck a gift certificate for dinner there in the book.
The Finest Menswear in the World by Simon Crompton $40 Does he appreciate looking fine? This is the first menswear book to go in search of the finest clothes, accessories, and brands in the world, and to explain the craft which makes them the best of the best.
How about some new pens and a new journal?
If your sweetie is a fan, this is the edition to own. Plus, it's red.
Sugar Rush by Johnny Iuzzini with Wes Martin $40 I don't need to tell you that it would be awesome of you to make something from a book like this for your Valentine. Or at least flag the pages of things you'd love to have made for you. IF, and only if they are a baker and would love a challenge.
The Oh She Glows Cookbook by Angela Liddon $25 If you have a vegan on your hands, this cookbook will be a delight! Great recipes and tips and you'll benefit too.
Come in, tell us about your Valentine, we'll come up with something lovely. Or fun. Or wildly inappropriate. Whatever you need.
Children LOOOOOVE
Valentine Books!
Here Comes Valentine Cat by Deborah Underwood with illustrations by Claudia Rueda $16.99
If you know Cat, and you should, you know Valentine's Day is not going to be a smooth and lovely adventure. At least not to start with...

Art at Laurel Bookstore
Come and paint with us at the Laurel Bookstore
Saturday afternoons 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
7-session workshop (January 30 - March 12): Still life painting
6-session workshop (April 2 - May 7): Clothed figure and/or outdoor painting
6-session workshop (May 21-June 25): Painting outdoors.
Artist Marshall Hasbrouck teaches basics-to-advanced oil painting in an ongoing series of Saturday afternoon workshops. Instructor has more than 40 years experience in drawing and in painting in oils and water colors. The emphasis is on realistic rendering. Oils are the medium we use because of their versatility. We will work in the bookstore/studio on still life and occasionally clothed figures. With our great weather, some sessions will be outdoors for urban landscapes, and farther afield for natural settings along the bay and in nearby regional parks
