Nearly 100 Attend KMA Physicians' Day at the Capitol
Nearly 100 people -- including physicians, medical students and legislators -- attended the 2016 KMA Physicians' Day at the Capitol Wednesday in Frankfort. The day began with an advocacy session at the Capitol, followed by visits with legislators. The afternoon sessions included a discussion on medical cannabis and safe opioid prescribing. KPLI Leadership Symposiums

Stephen P. Miller, CPA, has been named Commissioner of the Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services. Miller spent the past 24 years as Vice President of Finance with the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA), where he assisted in the development of KHA's position on pending legislation and monitoring federal and state reimbursement issues.

in UK Survey
Licensed physicians are encouraged to take part in a University of Kentucky research study related to the Kentucky law that mandates reportage of domestic violence (spouse abuse) (KRS 209A.030). To participate, click here to take a brief anonymous survey. Results of this survey will be used to help improve clinical practice and the protection of victims.

KMA Immediate Past President David J. Bensema, MD, recently wrote about the Commit to Quit smoking cessation campaign in the Lexington Herald Leader. KMA, the Kentucky Foundation for Medical Care and the Lexington Medical Society are sponsoring the campaign in the Lexington area.
