Awakening the Light of Dharma:
How to Uphold Dharma in the World Today
We are pleased to share with our followers news of a unique gathering GPIW held in Varanasi, India in November 2015.

Awakening the Light of Dharma: How to Uphold Dharma in the World Today was a four day international dialogue designed for deep reflection and exploration of the concept of Dharma - how to live in harmony with the universal laws that support and sustain life.

The Varanasi Dharma Summit was a groundbreaking effort that brought together the wisdom of the Eastern traditions. The program had participants from India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tibet, as well as Denmark, Iran, Italy, Japan, Poland, Uganda, and the USA. Such an assembly of influential Hindu and Buddhist leaders is not a common occurrence, and it offered a rare opportunity to strengthen deep exchange among the Dharma traditions.

Participants closely examined root causes and conditions of current global stresses from a spiritual perspective. The outcome of this program resulted in the creation of the SARNATH PLEDGE, a joint statement that calls for transformation of the current global paradigm from domination to one of cooperation, respect and appreciation for the balances inherent in the natural world.
