Hello Old Donation Family!
Today, we say goodbye to Alleluia and hello to a season of penitential reflection. We had some amazing worship on Sunday as it was led by the youth of our parish. Blair Hood and Bella Galvez preached beautiful sermons and each service was full of energy and praise. Last night was our pancake supper put on for us by this year's Rite 13 class, and I, for one, had my fill.
Thank you to all who made the event possible!
Today, we gather together as a community once more to begin this Lenten season together. Ash Wednesday services are held at 7:00am, 12:00 noon, and 7:00pm- nursery will be available! If you have not made it to church yet today to participate in one of these services, please come tonight to join us.
Sunday starts off our Lenten adult forum program, as we begin a series on Spiritual Practices. To get us going, the Rev. Kipper DeGavre and Judy Kuhns will be leading us on an introduction to contemplative prayer. In addition, I'll be teaching an alternate class in the library titled "Sacred Stories," where we'll be looking at how the Holy Spirit moves through our lives and the stories we share.
On Monday next week, please join us for the parent/adult portion of our series for youth: Sex and Sexuality: Let's Talk, my faith is part of this too. In the following few weeks, we'll be engaging our youth in some open and honest conversation about sex, and the role our faith, media, and medicine play in it.
Finally, next Wednesday begins our Lenten Wednesday Night Program, and it's a big one! Living with Fear: Terror, Extremism, and a Christian Response. Next week Fr. Bob and I will lead a discussion on what fear truly is, how it can alter our lives in ways we don't fully realize, and what that means for us as children of God. Please come join us, for this night and the rest of the series. I promise you won't regret it.
Welcome to Lent, my friends! Embrace all the season has to offer.
In Christ,
