And we have kick-off!
We're just getting our hearing back from all the cheering that filled Colorado skies Sunday night. It was well worth a little hearing loss, though, to see the Broncos grab that coveted Superbowl 50 title!

On a more local level, this week was a big deal for other reasons. We had a different kind of kick-off, but this time for something that will end (hopefully) with everyone a winner. The Linking Lookout project kicked-off yesterday. We have boots and hardhats and heavy machinery on-site, and a detailed game plan to move forward with.

We said it last week, but it bears repeating - we're going to do our best to keep you informed and up-to-date as the project progresses! You'll find information at www.LinkingLookout.com, including timelines, maps, and even the history of the project. We also have a video there of the Jan. 28 community meeting where city staff and the project contractor gathered to present information and answer questions. Each Tuesday we'll also update you on the latest in the Current Projects section below. And don't forget our Project Hotline where you can get updates and leave a voicemail with questions at  (303) 277-8777.

Keep on reading for all the other great things happening in Golden - and have a great week!

Tomorrow on Wed., Feb 10, East-bound US 6 from about the Chimney Gulch parking lot to almost 19th St. will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

City of Golden Boards, Commissions and Committees are looking for a few good men and women!

Jeffco Public Schools is seeking input on the 2016/2017 budget, and every parent, student, employee, and community member is invited to put in their two cents. An online interactive budget tool offers the opportunity to weigh in on school construction, extracurricular activities, transportation, compensation, and more.

Visit the Interactive Budget Tool now through February 21 to make your voice heard.

The tool should take less than 10 minutes to complete, though there are links to learn more about some of the subject areas and you can refine your answers as much as you'd like before submitting your response.
In addition to the budget tool, Jeffco Public School Board members are hosting community forums:
  • 9:30-11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, Arvada West High School, 11595 Allendale Dr.
  • 7:30-9 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, Evergreen Firehouse Auditorium, 1802 Bergen Pkwy.

  • 6-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, Pomona High School, 8101 W. Pomona Dr.
The forums feature information on the Jeffco 2020 strategic plan and an overview of the 2016/17 budget. Attendees are given the opportunity to discuss the two topics in groups and then give feedback to board members. If you are unable to attend the forums, the presentation materials are also available on the  Jeffco Public Schools website.
