"Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he" Proverbs 29:18
Every well managed organization should have a plan which includes a financial budget. The budget is a major part of the plan and vision for the church and is a useful tool in helping it reach its goals. September and October are the ideal months to prepare the budget for the upcoming year and have it approved by the board by the end of year. However, if you haven't yet prepared a budget for 2016, it's not too late to do so now.
Preparing The Church Budget
Unfortunately, many churches continue to operate without having a budget in place. Why wait? You can start right now!
Tips on preparing a budget:
Use prior year's total (2015) to prepare upcoming year's (2016) budget
Be conservative with projected income and liberal with projected expenses
Your budget should reflect the vision of the Church
Be realistic with projected amounts and planning
Solicit information from various areas of your ministries
Monitor your budget throughout the year by comparing it to actual results
