February Membership Meeting: Mark Henneman: Investing in Minnesota
Mairs & Power's Mark Henneman will provide a case study informing how a regional economy can create an opportunity-rich landscape for investors. With the state of Minnesota as our example, he will delve into how a regional business culture with a self-reinforcing robust business climate evolves over time and what the drivers are for that development. We will also examine the importance of diversity across sectors, as well as the impacts of cross fertilization of ideas and talents.

Let the City of Saint Paul know what you think about Sick and Safe Time
The city is engaging the community to discuss the possibility of extending earned sick and safe time to all employees in Saint Paul. Earned sick and safe time refers to accrued hours of paid leave provided by an employer to their employees to address personal and family health and safety needs. To help the city shape an earned sick and safe time policy, individuals are encouraged to answer a four question survey. Click here to take the survey. Learn about Sick and Safe Time at Economic Development Committee at new Senate Building Feb 23 
This month's Economic Development Committee will be held in the new Minnesota Senate Building- 95 University Ave. Among agenda items will be a discussion with Saint Paul City Council President Russ Stark on the Sick and Safe Time legislation proposed in Saint Paul.

The Economic Development Committee encourages and guides economic development in the Midway through advocacy, policy and program development, support for existing businesses and recruitment of new businesses. The Economic Development Committee meets the 4th Tuesday of the month (unless otherwise noted) at 11:30 a.m. at rotating locations throughout the Midway area.

American Engineering Testing announced President Daniel Larson was named CEO, effective February 1, 2016. He will replace AET founder Terry Swor, who has been CEO for thirty years. Swor will remain chair of the board. David Rettner, PE, has been named new company president.

Have lunch at Saint Paul College and support culinary students
Last Friday, 20 Midway Chamber members had lunch at Saint Paul College.  The City View Grille is operated by final semester Culinary Arts Students. A la Carte options are available for lunch Tuesday - Thursday, and a themed buffet is offered on Fridays during the semester. After graduation, these students will begin working at individual restaurants like Heartland, Surly Brewing and Salt Cellar or institutions like golf courses, hospitals or corporate headquarters. Nominate for Sustainable Saint Paul award
Mayor Chris Coleman and the Saint Paul City Council are encouraging individuals, businesses and organizations to submit nominations for the 2016 Sustainable Saint Paul Awards, which honor the work being done to protect and restore the environment in Saint Paul. Nominations are due Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

Individuals, businesses and organizations may nominate others or themselves. Award categories include:
