CommUNITY Day Marks Beginning of African American History Month Activities

Campus Closed for Presidents Day Weekend
Fullerton College is closed Friday, Feb. 12 and Monday, Feb. 15 for the Presidents Day holiday.
NOCCCD Chancellor Finalists Announced
The five finalists for the new chancellor of the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) will participate in open forums on Thursday, Feb. 11, at both Cypress College and Fullerton College. Read More ...
Debaters Place at Spring Express Tournament
Fullerton College debaters participated in the Spring Express tournament hosted by Fullerton College on Feb. 5. Hailey Kwon and Kitiny Phumchun won all three of their rounds and earned a first place certificate while Michael Wu and Iris Chu earned third place. The team resumes tournament competition on March 4 and 5 with a National Educational Debate Association qualifying tournament co-hosted with CSUF. The FC Speech and Debate team is coached by Doug Kresse and Jeff Samano.

Student Success Highlighted at 2016 Spring Convocation
Fullerton College held its 2016 Spring Convocation on Jan. 29 where faculty and staff came together for breakfast in the Campus Dining Room before heading over to the Campus Theatre for the main event. Titled "The Fullerton College Experience: Reflections from Our Students," convocation focused on student success and the college journey.

Student Health for Student Success
A variety of health services are available to students at little to no cost at the FC Health Center. Health Services representatives are available for class presentations to educate students about available services on campus, Title IX, emotional/psychological counseling and other student health and wellness issues. Faculty and staff may schedule a Health Services classroom presentation by going to the Health Services

SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union will be on campus Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Library, Room 820-P. A retirement advisor is available to assist with questions about CalPERS or CalSTRS pensions, retirement accounts such as 403b's, 457's, and Roth 403b's. Staff may also establish their fringe account and review existing TSA, IRA, and 401k retirement accounts. FC Faculty Publishes Vegan Primer
English faculty, Bruce Henderson has published a guide to vegetarianism entitled
A Vegan Primer. The book explains why people might consider a vegetarian or vegan diet and offers advice on how to make the change. Print and downloadable formats are available from Lulu.com and will soon be offered via Amazon.

The Fullerton College Art Gallery is launching its 2016 Artist in Residence event on Feb. 11 with renowned artist Lesley Dill. Working in sculpture, photography and performance, Dill uses a variety of media and techniques to explore themes of language, the body and transformational experience. Read more...

The Hornets hosted Riverside City College on Friday night completing the season sweep over the Tigers 72-50.

The Lady Hornets were hit with another conference loss on Friday falling to Riverside City College 72-58.

Baseball
The FC baseball squad won their home opener 1-0 against Palomar College last Thursday and then lost their first game of the season at Palomar 7-5 on Saturday.

After landing a big 8-0 win over San Bernardino Valley College on Wednesday, the Hornets lost the next day to Mt. SAC 2-1 in extra innings.

Another batch of Hornets have signed with four-year schools.

Women's Soccer
Sophomore midfielder Johanna Moran will go to school and play for Ottawa University (Kansas) next season after accepting a scholarship offer. A two-year starter for Fullerton College, Moran accumulated seven career goals and seven assists for the Hornets.
