Our Shared Ministry 2016
Thank you to the congregations who have already sent in your Shared Ministry Pledges for 2016.  We have received pledges from 20 congregations so far and are 36% of the way toward reaching our goal of $225,000 in Shared Ministry funding.

Our goal this year is for all of our congregations to participate and we believe it can happen.  Even if your congregation is only able to contribute a small amount you can do something to be part of supporting our collective mission.  Be part of the "team" this year and send in your shared ministry pledge.

The season of Lent leads up to the most holy of Christian days, Easter Sunday.  In observance of the Lenten season, the Spiritual Leader Development Commission will offer brief meditations and reflections each Wednesday on the presbytery's website as a way for you to incorporate time for personal reflection during the holiday.

The first reflection available for viewing on Feb. 10 , Ash Wednesday, focuses on scripture from Deuteronomy 26:1-11 and features Amy Carlson, Director of Christian Formation and Congregational life at Second Presbyterian Church Join us each week as we celebrate the season with prayer, meditation, reflection and devotion.

by TE Deborah McEachran,
Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church

From three sides of Leakin Park --- the congregations of Dickey Memorial, Trinity and Hunting Ridge Presbyterian churches are building ties by offering several shared Lenten opportunities.  During this season of reflection and prayer, we will face the justice, violence, racial and economic issues troubling our city.  From different neighborhoods, different racial and cultural backgrounds, and different age groups, we will look for ways we might be bridge builders instead of wall builders in West Baltimore.

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 9, we will provide a fresh online devotional experience each Tuesday during Lent, exploring different prayer practices.  Lent Online  will be prepared by TE Jennifer Barchi, TE Ron Hankins and TE Deborah McEachran with music support from Craig
Sparks, Director of Music at Hunting Ridge.  You can find Lent Online  at www.huntingridgechurch.org.  Each church will post a link on their own Facebook page to Lent Online.  Join us!  Take time when you can to stop and explore prayer practices like the examen, walking prayer, dialogue prayer, self-examination, etc.  Like and share Lent Online  with your friends and family.

The three congregations are also forming three Lenten small groups with hopes of having members of each congregation in each group.  Groups will be facilitated by the three pastors, one at Dickey Memorial on Sundays at 12:30pm, one in the home of a ruling elder at Hunting Ridge on Tuesdays at 7pm, and one via conference call.

TE Ron Hankins, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, in partnership with Hunting Ridge Presbyterian and Dicky Memorial Presbyterian Churches, will host a conference call Lenten Bible study series on the following dates:
1pm Thursday Feb. 18
1pm Thursday Feb. 25
1pm Thursday Mar. 3
  1pm Thursday Mar. 10
1pm Thursday Mar. 17

All Bible studies will be hosted via  Freeconferencecall.com  641.715.3580
Access code 388729#.  Please call Ron Hankins at
443.939.1513 if you wish to register and participate. Please leave your name, church affiliation, contact phone number and email.

The small groups will dig deeper into the prayer practice of the week, enable honest dialogue with one another and share together in prayer.   The three West Baltimore congregations will also share together in worship on Good Friday at Dickey Memorial Presbyterian.   May we all be open to what God will show us this Lent.
