CASC Speaker Series

Room Reservation Procedure
The room reservation procedure was updated. All room requests will need to be  processed via the  new  online SSW Reservation portal that is located on the School of Social Work website. You will find the SSW Reservation portal listed on the School of Social Work website under the "Current Student" tab or when you click "My SSW" in the Student Organization Resources section. Please note that the portal is for SSW affiliates only; you will need to login with your uniqname and password to access. Questions can be directed to Lauren Davis or Nyshourn Price.

Calling All Artists
The Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC) is now accepting submissions for its 11th annual art show, rEVOLUTION: Making Art for Change. Themes of the show are gender, sexism, sexual violence, and empowerment. Art of any medium is welcome. Submissions are due by March 10. Email any questions to artrevolution.
 
He Named Me Malala Film Screening
He Named Me Malala is an intimate portrait of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan's Swat Valley. The then 15-year-old was singled out, along with her father, for advocating for girls' education, and the attack on her sparked an outcry from supporters around the world. She miraculously survived and is now a leading campaigner for girls' education globally as co-founder of the Malala Fund.

Impacts of Child and Adolescent Interventions
When interventions target cognitive skills or behaviors, capacities or beliefs, promising impacts at the end of the programs often disappear quickly. This talk seeks to identify the key features of interventions, as well as the characteristics and environments of the children and adolescents who participate in them, that can be expected to sustain persistently beneficial program impacts. Volunteer at Starfish Family Services
Volunteers are needed to join the Child Team to prepare for the Dad Power Program, a 10-week attachment based program for fathers and their children. This is a great opportunity to learn about attachment and the development of infants and toddlers while gaining experience interacting with infants and fathers in this program. Reproductive Justice Art Exhibit
Students for Choice is accepting submissions for an upcoming reproductive justice exhibition in April. Submissions can be sent to Ella Webb until March 15.

MBK Detroit Innovation Challenge
Detroit's rebirth is happening, but too many people remain trapped by circumstances that prevent them from reaching their full potential. The Skillman Foundation and the Campaign for Black Male Achievement have launched a $500,000 Innovation Challenge that invests in ideas for improving the outcomes of boys and young men of color in Detroit. Learn more and submit an application by March 18.

Anti-Human Trafficking Group
A new community group is forming to tackle human trafficking in Washtenaw County. The group's subcommittees will meet prior to the meeting. Learn more about the subcommittees.

Scholarships and Funding Opportunities
Funding for Student Organizations
CASC students are involved in many activities around campus and we receive multiple requests for funding. CASC has a limited pool of money that CASC students are eligible to apply for. In order to apply for a CASC grant, you must be part of a registered student org and have an SOAS account. There are four funding deadlines throughout the year- October 1, December 1, January 15, and March 15.  To apply for funding, students must submit a funding proposal.  Contact the CASC office with questions.

Islamic Studies Program Fellowships
Grants up to $3000 for summer domestic or international projects in the field of Islamic studies is available to undergraduate students at U-M. There is a competitive preference for students with an Islamic Studies Program minor and cannot be used toward a language study. Learn more and apply by March 15.
Jobs and Internships
Challenge Program Facilitator Position
The U-M Challenge Program is hiring facilitators who are dynamic and ready to learn. Facilitators are responsible for designing and delivering team building programs. No experience is necessary and both students and non-students are eligible to apply. Apply by March 14.

AFL-CIO Union Summer 
Union Summer is a 9-week, paid educational experience that introduces young activists to the labor movement by allowing them to be on the front lines with working people as they join together to form unions in their workplaces. They are seeking student activists passionate about righting social and economic injustices, who have excellent communication skills and are willing to work long, irregular hours and weekends. Students from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds and bilingual students are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is April 1.

Milan Seniors for Healthy Living
A Program Coordinator is needed to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and activities fitting with the Milan Seniors for Healthy Living (MSHL) mission and purpose.
