NOW LET'S CHAT MORE ABOUT THAT ZIKA VIRUS...
You've heard of the zika virus, right? First identified in monkeys in Uganda nearly 70 years ago, this virus is now spread by the bite of an infected Aedes genus of mosquitoes. Only about 20% of people infected with the zika virus actually even get symptoms. Symptoms include mild headaches, fever, rash, joint pain or conjunctivitis (red eyes). As of now, we have no medicine to treat for the zika virus nor a vaccine to prevent it. Doctors have been prescribing plenty of rest and fluids for people who have been infected. Ongoing studies in Brazil, where there has been a major outbreak, lead us to believe that the zika virus has been linked to an astonishing number of babies being born with microcephaly. The mosquito that transmits the zika virus is primarily a daytime biter. Keep this in mind if you are outdoors during the day and protect your skin by wearing long sleeves & long pants. Protect any exposed skin by using a product that contains at least 20% DEET.
