Independent Practicing Family Physicians - We Need Your Help
Dear Member Family Physician:

Recently we have been notified of an opportunity to provide the names of active members in independent practice who have an interest in serving as a potential representative to the State of Maine advisory group involved in the Transformation of Medicare process by serving on the multi-stakeholder team tasked with the development of the Maine Medicare Alignment Proposal, with the Maine DHHS SIM Steering Committee becoming the "Convener" of this model. This group will be responsible for making recommendations that will significantly alter how we are paid for what we do.  The new emphasis coming out of the federal office of Medicare and Medicaid, will be to transition away from simple fee-for-service and use quality data to develop a new payment structure based on pay-for-performance.

The team position yet to be filled is specifically for an independently practicing physician.  There are already representatives who are in employed/ACO, etc. practice situations.

If you are interested in representing the MAFP, we would like offer you the opportunity to discuss your candidacy at our upcoming board meeting in Lewiston on April 6th on the eve of our annual meeting.

We look forward to hearing from you!

If you have any question or concerns, please feel free to call me anytime on my cell at 570-5488 or email me - [email protected]
Sincerely,

Bill Sturrock MD
MAFP President
