 THE AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY REVEALS STUDIO GANG DESIGNED EXPANSION
The American Museum of Natural History announced the conceptual design for the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation. Designed by
Jeanne Gang (2006) of Studio Gang Architects, the Gilder Center is the embodiment of the Museum's increasingly integrated mission of science, education, and exhibition. Construction of the Gilder Center will begin in 2017 after completion of the design. The goal is to open the Gilder Center in 2020, at the conclusion of the Museum's 150th anniversary in 2019.
"We uncovered a way to vastly improve visitor circulation and Museum functionality, while tapping into the desire for exploration and discovery that are emblematic of science and also part of being human," said Jeanne Gang. "Upon entering the space, natural daylight from above and sightlines to various activities inside invite movement through the Central Exhibition Hall on a journey towards deeper understanding. The architectural design grew out of the Museum's mission."

STUDIO GANG'S "SOLAR CARVE" BUILDING RECEIVES FINAL GO-AHEAD
Three years after designs were first revealed for the futuristic wedge-shaped Solar Carve building, its developers have received the final go-ahead for the project. The building is designed by
Jeanne Gang's architecture firm Studio Gang. The design of the Solar Carve building "is sculpted by geometric relationships between the building and the sun's path," according to Studio Gang's website. When complete, the building will stand 12 stories and 190 feet adjacent to the High Line on Tenth Avenue at 14th Street.

K. Sujata (2011), President & CEO of the Chicago Foundation for Women, published an op-ed in Crain's on how to bridge the pay gap for women in Chicago. "There is much more to do, of course. What does gender equity look like in the end? About $320,000 to $850,000 more in lifetime earnings for the average working woman-and her family. THE CHICAGO FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN LAUNCHES 100 PERCENT PROJECT
The launch of the Chicago Foundation for Women's (
K. Sujata) 100 Percent Project was highlighted in the
Chicago Sun-Times. The project's aim is to end gender bias in Illinois and achieve equitable employment of women all the way to corporate suites and political seats by 2030. Actress/activist Ashley Judd, who keynoted CFW's Sept. 29 luncheon, told the
Sun-Times that she backs the goals of The 100 Percent Project. "I love how it has benchmarks - by 2018, 30 percent of all local employers to offer strong, stable, fair, adaptable work environments for all their employees; then additional targets by 2020, and by 2030, 100 percent of women in Chicago to have equal pay," Judd said. "That is congruent with the United Nations' sustainable development goals."

ANN DRAKE WOMEN IN THE C-SUITE SESSION FEATURED

La Rabida Children's Hospital (
Brenda Wolf (2012)) hosted its 29th annual gala Friday, November 6, at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago. The Friends of La Rabida Awards Dinner honored individuals and organizations that have demonstrated a unique commitment to their communities. Proceeds benefited La Rabida Children's Hospital programs and services for children with lifelong medical conditions and complex medical needs. TCN member

Z. Scott (2012), Partner, Co-Chair, White Collar Litigation and Internal Investigations Practice, Kaye Scholer LLP, was honored with the Community Service Award.

 SXU HOSTS FOURTH ANNUAL TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE
With the holiday season right around the corner, Saint Xavier University (SXU) (
Christine Wiseman (2012)
) wants to spread a little holiday cheer by proudly collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program now until Thursday, December 10. In the 63 years since the Toys for Tots program began, the Marines have distributed more than 419 million toys to more than 195 million underprivileged children.
This is the fourth year SXU has participated in this program and will continue to support and distribute toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.
