Waterworks to Receive Funding
T
wo Saskatchewan drinking water projects and nine wastewater projects will be receiving support from the Small Communities Fund, to go towards
$16 million in upgrades. Under the program, the federal and provincial governments will each cover up to $5.4 million, or one third, of the total projects cost.
Congratulations to the most recent recipients: the towns of Arcola, Kinistino, LeRoy, Radville and Watrous, and the villages of Drake, Macoun, Muenster, Quill Lake and Yarbo, who join 26 other Saskatchewan municipalities already approved.

Leachate Workshop
Landfill managers/operators are invited to attend a one-day workshop on chemical leachate issues that affect landfills and lagoons, April 8 in Lloydminster. The session will address issues facing small communities. Earlybird registration pricing ($250) ends March 18.

Small Claims Court can now be used for bigger claims. The monetary limit for claims at
Small Claims Court has been increased from $20,000 to $30,000 effective February 4, 2016. The change comes about as the Ministry of Justice moves forward with its Justice Innovation Agenda, aiming to provide more affordable, faster, citizen-centred dispute resolution.
