Retired Torrance Police Chief John Neu Appointed to Bureau of Investigation
|
Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey today announced new leadership for the county's fourth largest law enforcement agency by appointing retired Torrance Police Chief John J. Neu to serve as chief of the District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation. "John is an innovative leader in law enforcement," District Attorney Lacey said. "He will bring valuable experience to this office as we continue to confront increasingly sophisticated high-technology frauds and other crimes that affect the quality of life in Los Angeles County." Neu is scheduled to assume his new post on Nov. 1. Neu was born in Redondo Beach and raised in Torrance. He began his law enforcement career with the Pasadena Police Department and transferred to the Torrance Police Department in 1985, rising to the rank of captain in 2002. He was Torrance Police Chief from 2006 to 2014. He currently serves as interim chief of the Redondo Police Department. He holds a master's degree in criminal justice from Chapman University.
