AH, SICILIA!

Perhaps you've been following my travels on instagram, but if not- I just got back from 2 weeks in the south of Italy, specifically Sicily and the Aeolian Islands...  And it was beautiful!!! Here's a quick re-cap of the trip, but feel free to ask for specifics if you're thinking of visiting yourself.

The first week we (that's my guy Tobin below) took it slow.  We spent 3 nights in the lovely town of Cefalù, an old and beautiful city on the beach (above), then 5 nights on the islands of Lipari and Salina. The islands were breathtaking with endless and stunning views of the sea. I ate everything i try to avoid at home: gelato, pizza, pasta, pastries -- and i don't regret a single bite!  We went swimming every day, hiking to private coves & snorkeling at sandy beaches, and the water was so clear and blue! I found inspiration everywhere: the stones under our feet, tiles and lace, vined walls and plant life, and the colors!

The second week we rented a car (lucked out with a little white Fiat 500!) and drove around Sicily, staying just one night in each place, visiting towns and swimming spots along the way. I would definitely do that differently next time, staying at least 2 nights in each place (or better if we could decide on just one place for the week).  Even so, it was great taking in the countryside from the road, and we loved each stop: Taormina, An agriturismo (B&B on an orchard) near Noto, Lido di Noto (above), Scala dei Turchi, Agrigento, Ortigia, the island of Favignana, & Palermo.

Ciao Sicilia, I miss you already!

xxxooo,

Diva
