Leading U.S. regulators head to the White House today to update the President on their efforts to implement Wall Street reforms, the same day they address the international financial services community on policy and business issues such as the Fed's proposed TLAC (Total Loss-Absorbing Capacity) rules.  Monday's speakers at the two-day annual Washington conference of the Institute of International Bankers include Treasury Undersecretary Nathan Sheets, CFTC Chairman Timothy Massad, Fed Governor Lael Brainard, Comptroller of the Currency Thomas Curry, and FDIC Chairman  Martin Gruenberg. The New York-based Institute monitors  legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments at the federal and state levels in order to  ensure that federal and state banking laws and regulations provide international banks operating in the U.S. with the same opportunities as domestic banks.

The President will meet with financial regulators who are finishing new rules to manage financial markets.  The participants, who the White House did not name, will discuss efforts to implement consumer financial protections and combat abusive practices by the financial industry that predated the 2008 financial crisis.  The administration is gearing up to release a new fiduciary rule.
