A Message from the Director

Last month I had the privilege of signing all of the giving summaries for 2015. It's truly humbling to see the amount of support Seabeck gets each year. Thank you! As I was signing, I wondered how many other CEO's were doing this. Not many, I'm guessing. I gave a little donation to a local charity with a much smaller budget than ours. I received a form letter with a scanned signature from their Director. This solidified my resolve that anything to do with fundraising, will have a real signature on it. If I'm going to ask you for your time or money, I am going to take the time to sign it. The other thing that struck me was that I was signing letters to friends. I must have known 90% of the people who received letters. What a great gift to have as a Director. So to all my friends and donors-THANK YOU!

The Wi-Fi is in and working great. It even worked in the Inn during the recent power outages. We were hit pretty hard by the windstorm on Tuesday. We lost a couple of trees in the forest and many, many branches. Speaking of losing trees...the three remaining old maples in front of Colman Center have finally reached the end of their run. They will be removed on Monday. They have out lived their life expectancy by a few decades. We will replace them with new large maples this spring.

We have set the date for the Seabeck Annual Meeting. It will be May 22nd here at Seabeck starting at 4:00PM. The program will include a surprise unveiling of a new Seabeck amenity and a great seafood extravaganza including shrimp, clams, mussels, and to two types of crab. Tickets are just $10. I hope you will join us for this great event. Registration will start in April.

I am off on a quick trip to the Poconos Mountains for an IACCA board meeting at Spruce Lake Conference Center and then down to Florida to visit Charles Wallace at his place, Camp Weed (I'm not making that up). It's always fun to stay at different conference centers, but I am always happy to come home.  After all, there's no place like Seabeck.

Thanks,
Chuck

Are Cinnamon Rolls Coming Back to Seabeck?

Remember the huge mixer highlighted in a previous News & Views? Well, it has been re-coated and is ready to use. The first thing to make are Seabeck Cinnamon Rolls. The chefs are in the process of testing some different recipes to find the most delicious one for our guests.

The staff that was working today were the lucky ones. We taste-tested some with orange zest, some with raisins, some with apple filling and many others. There were so many to try and all of them were yummy!!!
