For GSC and WE-LAB schools: if the Green Team wants to  invite a guest speaker to the school to present information about a particular environmental topic, download our list of contacts and let us know if you need assistance  contacting them.  


Pablo Gonzalez, Director of Sustainability for OHL Arellano, visited Epiphany Catholic School and explained to the students some of the 'green' features that are part of the school's junior high building.

Email issues resolved
Good news! We have a new email provider, so hopefully we will not have problems receiving emails from the @dadeschools.net domain. Remember, we always respond to every teacher's emails, so if you do not hear back from us please call to let us know. You can still write to [email protected].
Eco-Summit in April
The Eco-Summit is an optional activity that gives Green Teams a chance to win 5 bonus points. Students have the opportunity to share 'green' projects and activities completed throughout the year with the entire school, parents and other family members, neighbors and leaders in the sustainability field. Refer to page 63 or 65 of The Academy Guidebook for details. Let us know if you need our help and if your school plans on hosting one.

Monthly Challenge Submissions Deadline
As we approach the end of the programs we ask that you please submit all requirements, the core pillars and monthly challenge reports, to your program manager by April 29th. We need time to double check we have all of the Green Team's projects on file and finalize scores weeks before the Awards Ceremony.
The Academy Awards Ceremony
Save the date! 

The Dream in Green Academy Awards Ceremony will take place Thursday, June 2nd at 5pm in downtown Miami at Stearns Weaver offices.

Nominate the students, facilities staff and principals that helped the Green Team make the program a success. Download the nomination forms HERE.

Building Student Leaders Through Fundraising
Is the Green Team participating in this initiative? If so, let us know! We are keeping track of the schools that are so we can present prizes at the Awards Ceremony. Read more details on page 13 of The Academy Guidebook.



Here is one idea: collect $1 per student during Earth month to support Dream in Green.  Please submit your total funds raised to [email protected] by April 29th.
The Academy's Star Schools
February challenge - Green Buildings




4th grade students from Rockway Elementary decorated old CDs to make eco-art which is now displayed in the arts suite of the school.
EWF Stirrup Elementary students went above and beyond in creating a prototype to reflect their ideas of how the old library building across their school can be restored.


The Falcons Green Team from John I. Smith K-8/Middle Learning Center created a video PSA demonstrating behavioral changes students and teachers can make to adopt an eco-friendlier lifestyle by saving water and energy.

Dream in Green Grants
Dream in Green offers grants of $300 each month to help 5th - 12th grade Green Teams create 'green' projects. The grant is to be used for the monthly activities chosen from the guidebook or to create an original project designed by the Green Team.

Grants for Special Projects


Wild Ones is accepting applications from projects that aim to enhance and develop an appreciation for nature using native plants. Grants of up to $500 will be awarded. Learn more HERE.




Would the Green Team want to tell their sustainability story? 

Grants of $5,000 will be awarded to support model storytelling projects that are service-oriented, based in a community or organization, and to some extent replicable in other places. Projects should have impact beyond their own communities or organizations. Review details HERE.


NEEF will support educators who are leading the way in Greening STEM education and provide support for continued development and innovation of school programs and projects connecting STEM with environmental education.  Grant amounts will range between $500 and $1,000. Learn more HERE.
