SWANS v MERSTHAM
Ryman Premier League
Wheatsheaf Park
Sat 05 Mar 2016
KO: 3pm

#EveryWhereWeGo ...

That Man ... has a face for all occasions! Swans striker Pat Cox [pictured] certainly enjoyed his 7th minute goal on Tuesday evening that kick started the 3-1 victory over Met Police. Coxy now has 26 goals [plus 3 pre-season] in all competitions so far this term, a great feat considering the pressures. Hopefully he can add to the tally when Merstham arrive at Wheatsheaf Park for the next Ryman Premier League fixture on Saturday.

Merstham arrive at Wheatsheaf Park sitting in 13th place and are pictured above [take no notice of the Sponsors on the board] when they put 6 past VCD ... one more than they did against the Swans. Penny scored 4 against VCD and the new, stronger, Swans defence will be keen to halt that. The introduction of Ben Martin at the back was visible and it was clear to see that the other new introduction Tommy Wright was also clearly a bonus for the team. Lets hope the Swans can maintain the performance as we look to consolidate and improve.

The Swans welcome you all to come along and get behind the boys ... KO 3pm at Wheatsheaf Park.

After treading water above the relegation zone for what seems like an age, Staines Town finally made a splash by beating a team outside the bottom four for the first time since December 5.  Only VCD Athletic and Farnborough have lost to Swans since Canvey Island were edged out three months ago and Tuesday's 3-1 win against Met Police marked the end of a sorry period.  It was only the club's third win in 17 matches to accompany 14 defeats.  With two more new players in their ranks, commanding centre-back Ben Martin - short term from St Albans - and Sutton United forward Tommy Wright - signed on a dual registration - Staines were ahead after seven minutes in front of a poor crowd of just 130.  When Dan Brown slipped in Pat Cox, it looked like he might be offside but, allowed to race in on goal and calmly slot past Oliver Pain for his 26th goal of the campaign.  It seemed Swans would move into a 2-0 lead in the 25th minute when skipper Tommy Brewer's excellent pass set Cox free again.  He clipped the ball goalward and all Tyrell Miller-Rodney had to do was slide in to make sure the ball made it over the line but he inexplicably hesitated and the ball was somehow cleared from danger.

SUPPORTERS Club Update ...

Just a quick update to let you know what we are planning for the last few weeks of the season.  Firstly we are trying to arrange a Sponsored Walk from Wheatsheaf Park to Kingstonian away on Sunday 17 th  April. It is around 11 miles and is expected to take about 4-5 hours. If those interested in taking part in the walk could let me know soonest. Money raised in sponsorship will go 50% to the club's nominated charity which is St. Peters Hospital Heart Foundation and the other 50% will go in to supporters club funds.

We will also be looking to do the end of season raffle again as this was very well supported last year and we hope to have similar great prizes to be announced soon.

We will be holding a  Player of the Year award which we will look to present at the end of season evening and will be asking all members to vote for their chosen player soon. It's been a tough season for everyone but hopefully with Drax at the helm we will see a change in fortunes in the coming weeks and maybe the players will make our choice difficult. Lastly we will also fix a date at the end of the season for the  Supporters Club AGM where we can go through the finances, how the money has been spent, elect/re-elect  committee and talk to all members about ideas for next year so get your thinking caps on.

Thank you all for your support and Come on you Swans!

David Norris
