It bodes well for Ada that our existing companies are growing and investing in their future. Over the last two years, we have seen nearly $200 million in private sector investments. The public sector investments (completed and programmed) are approaching $100 million. These are signs of a growing community.
In January, the City Council entered into a performance agreement with iQor to add 100 new jobs over the next five years. This count is in addition to their existing 200 positions. A couple years ago, AJF staff met with iQor executives at their NYC headquarters to thank them for being in Ada and encourage their continued growth in our area. We certainly appreciate their local investment and the belief in our local workforce.
The Ada economy is lucky to have corporate citizens such as iQor. iQor contributes to the economic diversification which is a major contributor in why Oklahoma communities have not seen the recession which has plagued other states.

Industry Roundtable and Tours
|
Manufacturing leaders in Ada are coming together on a quarterly basis to get to know each other, share successes, best practices, and find out about available resources. During the roundtable held in February the group discussed common training and workforce concerns and informally had the opportunity to speak with representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce (ODOC), Oklahoma Manufacturer's Alliance (OMA), Southern Workforce Investment Board (SWIB), and Pontotoc Technology Center (PTC).
Following the roundtable, the Ada Jobs Foundation organized industry tours with Flex-N-Gate, Globe, and DART welcoming ODOC, OMA, and SWIB into their facilities. | Ada First in Oklahoma to Fully Integrate StateBook |
StateBook is an online site selection database with 63,000+ data points all in one location, enabling economic development organizations to showcase the benefits of their community, region and State. Thanks to the Oklahoma Business Roundtable, Oklahoma Gas & Electric, and Public Service Company of Oklahoma, communities across Oklahoma are able to use this tool to market themselves to site selectors looking to locate or expand.
The Ada Jobs Foundation has taken the use of this tool one step further, by being the first in Oklahoma to fully integrate StateBook in to their website www.adaworks.org

In 2015, ECU entrepreneurship teams swept the top three spots in the Small Business Division at the Governor's Cup
|
The Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup is a statewide collegiate business plan competition that simulates the real world process of researching a market, writing a business plan and making a presentation to potential investors.
East Central University has six teams competing in the Small Business Division, based on their business plans those who qualify will make oral presentations on April 7-8, 2016.
Stacey Bolin, faculty advisor to the ECU Teams said, "Our teams have sought feedback from multiple business professionals and have integrated that information into their business plans. We will know on March 23 who will move forward and present their ideas to investors."
